I'm thinking through my setup, and think I have a plan.

I will keep to the CMS OF 2200 set which gets me the CMS GE basic,, and the OF 2200. I'll buy the OF 2200 Accessories kit, the rabbiting bit, a pattern cutting bit, a scribe bit,  a round over bit, flush trim bit a planning bit.I'll get the MFS 400 and MFS 1000 for support of off cuts I'll get the UG wing L. I've decided to not buy the CMS TS 75 module as it just seems too expensive, and not easy to use, I'm especially worried about the bevel angle adjustment. the expensive sliding fence, and the need to upgrade to a better table fence and the price of the table widener extension..

When I add all these things together it seems it just makes more sense to get the CS 70 trim saw, and upgrade that with it's sliding fence and  possibly it's table widener, either at purchase or incrementally over time..

The CS 70 has an added plus, it is a good pull saw that gives solid performance for mitre cutting and compound mitre cutting. The base model without any extra's costs about 3.6  x more than the CMS TS 75 module. So I'd just get that when funds allow within the year or so.. Another vary big plus is though heavy as the base CS70 unit is 35 kgs. it is still "portable" compared to a regular shop table saw (with a little help from a friend),  and yet extremely accurate. Another possibility would be to go with a work site saw like the Bosch 4100 series, it's even cheaper but cheap almost always means less so I'd be hesitant here  also like staying within the Festool System.. Main thing though for Table Saw functionality the bevel adjustment and sliding side table needs to be more robust than that offered with the CMS GE TS 75 module..

I plan on getting a drill press, and bandsaw at somtime in the future. and will rent space for my shop as needed.. Otherwise setup and take down in the sky is no limit workshop...

What no comments! Okay I guess I'm not asking any questions about this setup because I've gone through this at least once or twice pretty thoroughly a year ago. I got a ton of good advice then, I thank those knowledgeable people that chimed in then.

Now I'm moving into, get the cash anyway I can modus, tax returns, cancelling holidays for 2015, calling in the favours.. so I'll be able to reach my goals, for getting this very special and capable set of tools..

It's all a little overwhelming of course a five year plan of aquisicions halfway through. I've got the capability with the gear I already own to do quite a lot, this next step though will open up a whole new level of craftsmanship. Still gulp it's a serious chunk of cash to plunk down on one aspect of woodworking, the router, router table, the bits, the MFS system. But I guess it's so expensive because in this setup your able to do joining, template work, cut outs, rabbiting.. dados, grooves, laminating,  mortise and tenoning, precision drilling... the list goes on..

I'm getting myself amped up over this, and just waiting on a few confirmations as to Job security and will then take the plunge on all this in the next month or two..

Hey There...

I read this last night and was surprised that you are choosing this route.  I am not sure how many bevel cuts you make but the 75 CMS is definitely capable of doing it, but like you said, requires a bit of work to do so.  If you do a lot of 90 and 45 deg cuts, it probably isn't that bad.  That being said, the CS 70 has always caught my eye.  If you need it to be portable, that is a very nice piece of kit.

If you need a true shop saw (I know you are looking for some shop space as needed), i would get a nice table saw to handle it.  I know a lot of people using the TS &% in the CMS as a table saw and it works very well for them.  Plenty of power, nice clean cuts and if you need a compact, modular shop, it fits the bill perfectly.

Keep us posted on the results of your purchase... I would love to see more "end user" videos of the CS 70!

Cheers.  Bryan.

[member=21412]bkharman[/member] It's no surprise to me that a table saw needs to be stable if you work using larger pieces, and I'm willing to have to deal with stabilising issues with the CMS but as the you do the CMS add ons it doesn't really afford more stability.

I also have noticed that the CS 70 is pretty popular over here, one was recently in our local version of Craigslist for a very attractive price. After seeing that and as  I was pricing out the accessories needed for making the CMS TS 75 suitable as a table saw, the Fence, the side extension table and the sliding table, which is too small IMO the accessories and the CMS TS module starts to be getting close to the cost of a CS 70 or even a used Table saw, although I seldom se those on sale in good condition here, most real beaten up examples cheap but no thanks.

The CS 70 then offers  portability almost as good as the CMS but with the extra function of the pull saw. Portability is still very important to me as I can see the need for mobility in my future, and I'd like to keep the different elements in my setup as light as possible with that in consideration. Any paid work from my Festools will likely be either a combination of workshop or on site or exclusively on site.. Lot's of cottages in the Scandinavian countryside in need of repair.

I still may end up getting the TS module for the CMS, but at present it makes it easier to focus on investing in one aspect that works and is a proven performer the CMS Router insert and the OF 2200 with Accessory kit and the MFS which ends up being pretty expensive after all and then let the Table Saw aspect simmer for awhile, I can after all manage most things with the TS 75 and the MFT 3, perhaps picking up a TS 55 used if I want to work with thinner stock.. they are plentiful on our version of Craigslist..
