My CT hasn’t died yet, but what if...?

I realize I am inquiring about non-approved use, but I’m sure I’m not the first to do so.  Here is my question.

I have a Mafell Erika 70 table saw.  The amp draw is listed as 15A.  I would like to plug directly into my CT 26, but as many of us know, Festool limits the CT’s outlet to a much lower amperage (I’m not sure, but memory tells me somewhere around 3 or 4 amps).  Many of us also know that FT maintains that ANY of their tools will work when plugged into the CT’s outlet (including Kapex at 13A), so it is a confusing warning.  I understand that FT may not want to blanket warrantee the CT if the end user plugs a non FT tool (or high amp draw tool) into the CT.

Has anyone experienced problems with their CT and a high amp draw tool?

I run my 2200 routers thru the CT receptacles, no issues at all.

The rating has more to do with the plug on the CT than the onboard receptacle.

I run my 2200 though the CT and my TS 75 CMS saw module and have no issues.

The lower amperage restriction posted on the CTs outlet is for continuous use (if it serves any practical purpose at all). For intermittent use you can go much higher as in any Festool available.

However, all the Festool mains powered have universal motors (might be wrong so watch for a correction) and I think the Erika has an induction motor. Getting beyond my expertise but that could be a problem.

If the initial draw of the Erika plus CT doesn’t trip your circuit breaker you should be good but I tend to leave my table saw running more than any other power tool. If you do that too be sure to check the CT’s plug after some use and curtail use if it’s very hot.
