I imagine it is a dream come true for him. The flip side is he will now have nightmares about pitching to Miguel Cabrerra. [poke]

Congrats to him. I see he was a Husker, too. My nephew ( really my cousin's son ) graduated from there 1 1/2 years ago and played football.

GO BIG RED!!!

It certainly is. As far back as I can remember all he's ever wanted to do is play baseball. For the past ten years he's been practicing eight to ten hours a day.

He's a great kid, very focused and hard working. My sister and her husband have never pushed him, but they've been very encouraging and supportive. I don't think they've missed a single one of his games in twenty years.

As they say, good luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.  [smile]

Very nice.  Looks like you will be going to games in a different stadium (s) now.  [thumbs up]

Enjoy the  [popcorn]

Congratulations John and have fun at

the games, which probably means the World Series.

Congrats, John. You sound like a (justifiably) proud uncle!

Congrats John! Sounds like a good, hardworking kid got a nice reward for his efforts.  [big grin]

Hi John

Now that the season is over, I wanted to check in on your thread and say how great it must have been for your nephew.  I checked on the Royals throughout the season and saw your nephew was on the DL. I hope he's doing OK now and is back with the Royals next season.

One of my wife's friends at her school has a son who was called up to the Marlins this season. She knew him when he was a student and he was nice enough to come back and meet with our son and his team to go over some batting tips and run BP with them. How exciting it was for all of them.
