Need help with my Porter Cable PSH1 Sprayer

I have a Porter Cable PSH1 sprayer, and it gives me great results...

I am having an issue when spraying some latex paint (I am using the 2.2 mm tip, paint is thinned down).

What happens is paint come out/atomizes nicely, then the paint stops spraying temporarily, and I get a big air bubble up through the paint cup, then paint resumes spraying. These bubbles come up every second or so...which causes me to go over my material several times to make sure it is all covered.

The air bubbles (which are fairly large) come up through the paint cup whether or not i have the screw-on cover attached. It doesn't seem to matter how much air pressure I run through the gun (I usually run it at around 40psi) or how much paint I let through (the problem comes through with the needle wide open or almost all the way closed)

I sprayed some water through the gun, and that seems to spray just fine... I don't think my paint is overly thick, it has been watered down quite a bit.

Any suggestions/ideas?

I guess I should have read the manual first!

According the the troubleshooting, It is one of the following:
Fluid nozzle cracked or worn
Leak at thread of fluid nozzle
Leak at fluid needle

Hey Jeff,

Have you removed the screen strainer in the bottom of the cup?  I read somewhere that the strainer is just for very thin fluids like automotive paint.  I removed mine and threw it away and have had no problems.
