I recently bought a fein turbo 2 hepa for $650 Canadian on sale and now I’m kinda thinking I should return the fein turbo 2 auto clean or a Festool midi or festool 26ct for wood dust. Can someone help me make a decision? I will be using the dust extractor for my Bosch turbo mode sander, Milwaukee tracksaw, dewalt mitre saw and possibly a Festool ETS EC 125 sander if I decide to get a Festool dust extractor. If I get the festool dust extractor I’ll probably return the Bosch turbo mode sander I just bought and upgrade it for a rotex 150 sander.

I do home renovations and we do a decent amount of stair refinishing so getting the turbo mode or rotex sanders are definitely a huge upgrade from the Milwaukee 5” random orbital cordless sander I was using but I can’t have customers houses looking like a winter wonderland because there’s so much dust floating around inside there houses after I sand down the steps. I recently got told by my boss that it was my last day because there isn’t enough work for both of us. So $ is a bit tight but I have been finding some jobs recently so I just want to make the right purchase.
I like how festool dust extractor’s have variable power settings to help reduce the noise. A lot of my customers if they are home they are usually working from home or it’s house wives watching soaps so I don’t want to be too loud (even though the sanders are probably louder than a dust extractor) I know the Bosch turbo mode sander is extremely fkn loud. I turned it on in turbo mode to test it and wow it was loud..

I have 2 stair refinishing jobs coming up soon so I gotta hurry up and make a decision by Tuesday. Or I buy a Hilti auto clean dust extractor from last generation for $700 but the hose is like 2” I think and it’s very hard to find tool fittings for the dust extraction with hilti hoses

as far as vacuuming i think it's all the same. corded tools probably all the same auto start too. whatever tool you use will be louder than the vacuum

festool will let you stack systainers. you can add a push handle also. i think it has better wheels for rolling to site loaded so you just make one trip. there's also a remote addon or Bluetooth battery auto start with festool batteries

The reason for Festool vacs having variable suction is not to reduce the noise (but that is certainly a benefit) but rather to match the vacuum capability to the needs of whatever tool is attached to the vacuum. Sanders don't need (or want) much vacuum while saws and routers need all the vacuum they can get.

I like Hilti tools so I'll not disparage their offerings but a 2" diameter hose attached to a sander is a bit cumbersome to maneuver.
