Festool UK have started the hype machine about a new product. Said hype is very much based around noisy generators and power ords not reaching:
https://www.festool.co.uk/campaigns/microsites/power#Annoyyourself!

Looks to me they're coming with something to provide portable power that's quiet in use... a systainer full of batteries and some electrical gubbins to turn that in to 110 and / or 240 volts (110 is for site work over here and 240 for everywhere else)?

I've seen one of the active dealers on the Fesdrool Facebook group comment he knows what's coming, but is under a NDA and wouldn't drop any hints.

I don't know how many batteries (I'm gonna guess at a wallet-worrying 6) you'd need to get usable run times from corded machines but it would give Festool an instantly "cordless" router, mitre saw, planer etc.

I’m thinking it’s something like a Makita backpack power supply but with the new systainers. They could stick 4 - 6 18 volt batteries to give 2 USB, 56 volts or 36 volts x2 of portable power, sort of the best of both worlds. Lighten the tool and free you from the fixed location of a plug. So larger tools like the TS55 could get  36 volts. Hopefully by next summer I can order Festool lawn equipment.... I do have a Makita battery chainsaw and for quick clean up jobs it’s very handy. I would like to see  (ADP05 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Power Source, Power Source Only $18) for my Festool batteries for recharging electronics. What would be very cool 😎 if the battery pack was wireless so no cord just batteries transmitting energy to the tool wirelessly?
