I just received my new C15 today (at long last).  When i opened the box i thought i would give the 2 battery's a full charge as i do with any new drill.  I plugged the charger in & the light went yellow.  Slid the battery in & it started flashing green bur after about 2 seconds it started flashing red  [eek].  The instructions say this is to do with the temperature !  Both battery's were exactly the same & i left them for an hour & tried again but the same happened.  Phoned my dealer but they did not know why this was happening.
I phoned Festool UK & they told me the battery's come fully charged & if you try to charge it then it will flash red.  They say you cant charge it until the power level is below 80%.

I will run the batteries flat & then try to charge but i have never heard of this before, certainly never seen red flashing lights with my old C12 drill.

It does look a nice drill though with a lovely light  [big grin].  The belt clip is quite cool, it is on both sides of the battery but you push it to one side or the other depending on what hand you use.  Well thought.

Just wondered if anyone has had this issue with the red flashing light ?

Cheers, Woodguy.

Ive never bought any cordless and had the batterys fully charged.I guess they are lithium to have held a full charge.and must be factory FRESH
not been sitting on a ware house shelf for months, nice.

First of all, I am envious of you. Second I have never had that happen with my C12 drill but then again I have never tried to charge a fully charged one before. Want me to try?

Yea Chris, give it a bash.  I'm in the house now as its 9.30 pm otherwise i would try mine.

Cheers, Woodguy.

I think a better test would be a T 15 battery. It's Li-Ion. I'll go try it...

I just put a charged Li-Ion battery in my charger and it went from yellow to green.

To my knowledge, solid red is temperature and flashing red is a problem. I'd call service.

I got a protool 12v li-ion duradrive collated screwgun yesterday, which uses the same charger, it went from yellow straight to green aswell.
The manual said, that if you leave a fully charged battery on, it will give it a "maintenance" charge, to keep it optimally charged, so the story of the battery having to be discharged for at least 20% doesn't seem correct.

I left my manual in the workshop & will check it tomorrow but i am sure it said flashing red, temp & solid red, problem.  I think i will run the battery down a bit tomorrow & try to charge then.
Will post back then.

Happy new drill woodguy! Hope you have fun together. I love my C12 and the T15, bet the combination is really good.

Have fun John

I found  the manual of my 18V protool, in there it says: "LED red- lit continuously :Battery temperature is outside the permitted range. LED red - flashing :General fault display, e.g. incomplete contact, short circuit, battery pack faulty, etc.. "
