New carvex 420 corded setup help required

Thought I would test out my new Carvex this morning.

Inserted The supplied Carvex blade and followed the set up guide clamping the blade in the jaws with slight movement from side to side.

I have some softwood laminated stock 45mm thick, so gave it a try..not square at all a least 2-3 mm out of true.

I tried moving the block over,that the blade guides are attached to, only made slight difference.

Also tried some 18mm MDF and that's marginally out of square.

After seeing all the videos on YouTube, i was expecting better.

Is this human error...

Any suggestions would be welcome

Have inserted the splinter guard?

Did you use one of  thicker blades?

Have a look at this video, starting at the 0:30 mark we show how to insert the blade and set the guides properly. I would suggest using the Carvex gold FSG blade.

Yes used the thicker Carvex blade, but did not install splitter guard. Didn't  think the splitter guard was needed unless requires splitter free cut?

Does that mean splitter guard needs to be installed to get a square cut?

The splinterguard is not required, it only prevents chipping.

Yes, I did all that, I checked online videos prior to purchase and followed instructions. I used the thicker Carvex blade. It cuts beautifully, but not square?

Be sure not to push the saw through the cut, let the saw do the work.

I had a visit today from Craig from Festool to have a look at the problem I had with my Carvex.

It turns out when I first set the blade in I over tightened the jaws, which burned the blade, which warped it slightly making it cut out of square.  Oops!  [embarassed]

Anyway I'm now very pleased with my jigsaw.  [big grin]  Thanks Festool, and Shane of coarse.
