New EHL 65 planer

I noticed yesterday that Festool are re-releasing the EHL 65, down here in Aus, with improvements - plug it lead, new hand grip, more ergonomic design etc.
I was sure that I read somewhere (on here?) that the planer was going to be discontinued - anyone else in the UK or US (or anywhere else)  heard about this one?

Hi,

New version was brought out earlier in the year in the uk, had mine a few months great bit of kit.
I think it's the US that are loosing out.

Now I'm severly Annoyed!   I just went and bought the Old model 1 week ago, but before buying it I asked if there was a Plug-it model available, waited a week for an answer, and then was told... No.
Didn't really get into it as my seller apparently had spoken to Festool and I accepted what they said, then today i learn the new model was annouced 3 days ago & 3 days after i bought mine.... not happy.

If only i hadn't used it on the weekend for the first time then i could return it, as we don't have the 30 day policy here in Australia,  in the end thats life i guess!

Mike, it's still a great planer.
Surely under those circumstances you could return it?

Yeah it is and I'm more than impressed..... in the end it will be more hassle asking and convincing them to do a swap over, than jus living with it..... so i'll live with it

You should not be too disappointed Mike, it is a great tool. And from at least the pictures, I cannot see much difference apart from the fixed lead. And there are pros and cons for that,

The Major difference is the Plug it lead, Soft Touch Handle and Dial and the removal of the Locking button so it can be used left or right handed, and some other small changes.

I mainly wanted to have a Plug it Lead, but in the end it does the same job and it does it well.
