Got a nice surprise today from festool, an invite to their euro tour with £50 off voucher and a list of new deals. Oh and the new ehl65 eq planer is coming think I might use the voucher to upgrade ;D.

One deal that looks good is if you buy a sys roll you get a free sys toolbox.

Hi joiner Got the same pack through, they have also cut the trial period.

I wonder if the voucher is tied to the dealer they have printed on it?

I have two dealers near me, the bus is going to one and not the other and I prefer the one they arent going to they offer far better service.

The planer is very tempting, my work colleague got the ehl 65 last year, He is gutted now this has come out.

I have two dealers near me brought items from both around the same time, they registered My tools, i use different emails for each so ended up with two festool cards.

A few minor differences but the plugit is big for me. I was fitting some doors the other day working on a small landing and using my midi ts55 and the ehl. I would trim the door to height with the saw then have to pull the 110 plug out and plug the planer in then swap the hose. This is a pain but would be so much easier if the planer was fitted with a plug it and now it is ;D

How are you finding the Makita batteries? I have a lot of Makita kit inc the planner but I have had 3 batteries die so far this year, they have been under warranty so is ok for now, but have been moving back to corded as replacing all my batteries could be more expensive

I have only had it for a couple of weeks, but i have heard a lot of bad reviews of the Makita batteries.. The batteries and charger do look a bit flimsy [unsure] Its the only Makita tools i have but hopefully they will be okay.  I don't use a electric planer very often (i would rather  use a hand plane) so it should be okay

I havent used an electric plane on a door since discovering the ts55 7 years ago, ive never had the need, if theres any cleaning up to do i use my hand plane although ive always wanted the festool plane...

90%of the doors i fit a  ts55 is useless, its great on new builds, or somewhere you have fitted the casings yourself. Fitting doors in old houses you need a plane

I havent used an electric plane on a door since discovering the ts55 7 years ago, ive never had the need, if theres any cleaning up to do i use my hand plane although ive always wanted the festool plane...

The festool on handed planer is very nice planer. Best electric planer I have ever used.

I have used a few different dewalt models, Makitas and Bosch.  Dewalt being the worst due to its heavy weight.

Have to say  ive used makita cordless for many years and never had a problem with battery life and i use my cordless drill  with a plaster whisk and 2" diamond cores which really  stretch the batteries and the drill . My old ni-mh drill needed a new armature after 4 years of serious abuse  but the batteries where ok. I now have a lxt set and 2 extra axminster generic batteries and all are long lasting and  have plenty of power
