Honestly don't see the need to go cordless when you need the extractor  and the extractor hose

OK , you got me on that one... [tongue]

LOL! Good for you to admit it, Steve. Funny.  [tongue]

Another April Fools joke here. Hope I got a few of you.

The CT-SYS, SYS-Combi and Sortainer TL are all legit though. So, need tools coming, yay!

[size=13pt]Shane you gave the game away too early.  [big grin]

Must admit though you had me fooled mainly because it is not a bad idea, but would perhaps create some balance issues, and because it is already April 2 down here.

I saw that battery draggin' and immediately said to myself: "Self, that battery is going to create some mondo scratches across everything you just sanded."

Yeah, I knew that was a bad thing. But, I wanted to do something quick and these are the parts I could pseudo-Frankenstein together. I had thought about an autonomous sander, like a Roomba, but didn't want to spend more than 10 minutes on the Photoshop.

[size=13pt]I suppose Shane this is another example of 'UNPARALLELED Service!?  [smile]
[size=10pt]refer to Shane's FOG signature.
[size=12pt]Of course the Joke may be back on Shane if Festool actually develop this Sander, be it with some of the modifications being suggested.

Haha now this is a good one. You got me pretty good since I didn't think you'd do another joke today. If the battery was a little higher and the bag made intelligently it would actually be a good idea. Especially because there are so many manufacturers out there who already have decent cordless sanders. Plus it would widen the Festool 18v range even more.

Lol.  Just checking this today so the date didn't register.  Good one.

Shane, you should have paired it with a cordless, backpack CT (complete with hydration bladder) and you'd have some pre-orders.  [big grin]

Ah .. you mean a "suck and sip sack for your sander" [big grin]

Dumb Ass ME.

And we just talked on the phone...  Didn't notice this thread until just now.

Props on the skills.

Burn baby, burn.

This is what happens when sanders and jigsaws have babies.

I think the concept is solid, but I think it could be executed better with the battery placement. I just quickly found a photo of a Carvex that happened to be at the same angle as the ETS EC and graphed them together.

I'm not sure where I'd stick the battery if I were developing a real one. On the front makes sense for balance, but isn't good for visibility. I think vertically on the rear makes the most sense.

Maybe we will see one in the future...  [popcorn]

I guess for balance it should be a 36V tool with a battery on both sides [smile]

[size=13pt]The question of weight and balance might be overcome in time if the higher amp batteries can be reduced in size and weight to that or less of the 18V 2.6 amp. This sander would need a higher amp for most users.

However, while I have now  been sucked in by the joke and now the concepts design problems, I would probably still buy a corded model at a future time.
