As already mentioned, Festool is offering a new 125 (5") sander at a killer price and with the enclosed $50.00 voucher, you are just about getting the sander for free. Not knowing Festool's quantities, this will be a huge seller and is a limited run, so may be wise to place your order early. More info to follow.

Shipping November 1 - nice and early for the Holidays.....

Even though I have already have a stable of Festool sanders, I just ordered one of these from Bob.

Expect a followup order for 125 paper since all I have in discs is 90, 115 and 150.

Bob.  Will the new RTS 400 REQ pad protector fit the older RTS 400 sander?

Thanks
Craig

Bob, I asked Shane these same questions on his thread, but to avoid the appearance of favoritism, I will ask you the same questions regarding the locking hose connections Festool has released on us.

New hose connection compatibility with other currently owned sanders/tools:

It is my understanding the new sander has the locking dust port connection, that will work in tandem with the included locking retrofit kit for current 27mm hoses.

Just a couple questions:

1) Will the included retrofit kit work on the tool end of the sleeved hose (which, if I am correct,  is tapered down to 22mm on the tool end)?

2) Since we will need to install the retrofit kit on our current hoses, in order to connect to the locking dust port on the sander, what happens if we switch to an older sander/tool (in my case, the RS 2E).  Will we need to revert the hose locking connection back to the standard fitting, just to use the existing "non-locking" dust ports?

*Please forgive me if I am missing an obvious answer or solution to this compatibility issue.  I have just not yet wrapped my head around switching to the new locking hose and dust ports Festool is beginning to release, and how it impacts existing hose and dust port connections.  It may very well be there is no conflict and I just don't see it yet.

Good questions. Since these are brand new sanders, no dealer has any on hand yet, so I will email these questions to Festool and post when I here back, unless Tyler jumps in and posts the answers.

What is the difference between the ETS 125 EQ and this one??

Edit: I think it's the same sander as an ETS 125 REQ...just another voltage.

Edit #2: Duh..!! Didn't read the other thread! Wakey wakey Henrik!

Kind regards
Henrik

Bob.  Will the new RTS 400 REQ pad protector fit the older RTS 400 sander?

No it will not fit.
Because there's a special groove for the protector needed which is absent on the RTS/DTS 400 EQ versions.

Craig,

I will check and get back to you.

From Brent at Festool.

Just a couple questions:

1) Will the included retrofit kit work on the tool end of the sleeved hose (which, if I am correct,  is tapered down to 22mm on the tool end)? Yes.  The tool end of the hose is the same diameter even though the hose diameter is different.

No.  The new connector will work on all Festool tools old and new

Thanks Bob for the information.  Guess it is now safe for me to order one of these sanders!
