New Festool Videos from International Builders Show

Thanks Joe, I enjpoyed seeing the demos.

I had more or less given up on Festool drills for serious work (I like my my TDK 12, but only for very light and specialized tasks), so will be quite interested in fow the new T 15+3 with Lithium Ion batteries performs.

I noticed they didn't mention any price for it though....  I'll guess $165...

Best,
Todd

I'll bet it's > $200, hope I'm wrong.  Any dealers that have the catalogs can probably help.  How about the drill prices too. (almost afraid to ask)

Does anyone know if Festool posts their catalogs online in pdf format?

If they don't it would be a nice option for them to offer....

Best,
Todd

I think the drills are one tool that have such a wide range of uses and environments that there are always going to be people on both sides of the issue.

I guess I'm one of the few who really like the Festool drills.  Now if by "serious work" you mean screwing 3" deck screws in all day and the like then I'd agree.  But for me for just about everything else I can throw at them around this 260+ year old house and in my woodshop I've extremely happy with them.  I love the ability to bring the chucks to the work site and be ready for just about anything.  I cant tell you how many times the right angle chuck has saved my butt.  I like the feel and balance and power has always been more than adequate for what I need.  The NiCd batteries have always been ready to go when I needed them and save a thermistor failure in one battery pack, the drills which see extremes of temperatures have been flawless.

Now it would be very nice to have a 15v equivalent (12+3) in the smaller 12v package and likewise something the size of the current TDK15 with the power of 18v.  Not having any experience with the C12, the new motor/clutch system in the TDK's sounds intriguing as well.

Tom any chance that you have pictures of the parallel guide, parallel guide extension and the kapex extension set?

JGA.

Thank you Tom.  Is the parallel guide essentially a set of story sticks for crosscuts.  I'm assuming that they can also be used to rip, right?

JGA.

Noticed on the British site that the T12+3 actually has 10.8 volt batteries! The T15+3 has 14.4 volt. Interesting.
Pete

Interesting, that is over half the cost of a MFT/3... and is two really an an advantage over a single one...well perhaps for longer cuts...

Best,
Todd

You're welcome, Jesus.

From what I can tell, you can use the parallel guide for any reason you want to put a guide rail parallel to an edge. I haven't gotten any yet. I understand they'll be here soon.

Tom

I am not exactly sure what the extension on that parallel guide is for. Does anyone know?

Looked to me that with it you could have overhang on each side of the cut and still have the cut well supported....??? ???

Best,
Todd

If I am interpreting the manual correctly, the new drills seem to allow the use of Ni Cad, NiMH or Li-Ion batteries.  Maybe not the most prominent marketing feature, but a compatibility that I have never seen before.  Perhaps this has been discussed already and I missed the post(s).

In any case:

See Consolidated List of Festool Links and download the T12+3 and T15+3 Official Manual page 15.

Also see page 7 of the T12+3 and T15+3 Brochure.

What about folks who already have all the chucks and just want to replace their drill?

That's my understanding too, Chris. They made the new drills and the new charger backward compatible.

I'll try to find out for certain tomorrow.

Frank:

Based on what has happened in the past, they will likely come out with a stripped-down version a little later on.
