Quite some interestign stuff in

I personally found interesting:
Makita battery powered chopsaw (18:38).
Metabo sliding miter saw, dust collection on it seem to be rudimentary though, but can be powered either by a 36V battery or a mains connector in battery pack form (20:00).

And certainly the Diablo saw blades (2:16, 3:05, 9:17) making quick work of metal and wood - that get advertised to sell at 22$ retail price [eek]. I really hope these will come in TS 55, 75 and KS 120 compatible to Europe, at some point.

Metabo does not have a 36V mitre saw in the stable and AFAIK not working on one but that sweet 7 1/2" and a 10" from HiKOKI/Metabo HPT (Hitachi Power Tools) has been announced and out on demo for a while.

The renaming of Hitachi is a huge mistake and cause for some funny, some awkward and some really frustrating moments further down the line...

Well, Hitachi may have a good reason for renaming their tools division. The quality of the tools may become worse, to make more money, as happens a lot. Don’t forget there is also Hitachi Nuclear Energy….

It is indeed the HiKoki (formerly known as Hitachi ) saw. Hitachi no longer allows the use of their brand name after selling off the tool division. The original name Hitachi Koki was thus shortened to HiKoki. Koki, I think, simply means Tools.

So, the brand confusion has already begun, that saw is a HiKoki/Hitachi/Metabo HPT and NOT a bonafied Metabo.  :

It does not take Metabo batteries. So don't get it in the hopes of expanding your Metabo line up!

But, as far as I understood the video around 21:00, on the new tools they showcase there.

Moot for me anyway as it's NICE (not in central europe), though I post it as it might be interesting for you in the US.

No, none of the tools from Metabo HPT are compatible with Metabo. The tools he is talking about are the 36V MultiVolt tools - batteries that are compatible downstream to the existing Hitachi 18V (a.k.a Metabo HPT) line.

New 36V tools with new 36V batteries (four charge indicator bars) that are compatible with 18V former Hitachi tools. A 2,5Ah 36V becomes a 5Ah 18V. 18V batteries cannot be used on the 36V machines though.

Almost all 36V tools can use the a/c adapter.

Metabo does not have MultiVolt.

I have said it before: the Metabo HPT name is a very stupid move by Metabo and HiKoki - brand confusion will not help.
Metabo and Metabo HPT?  C'mon Metabo... It is evident in the videos already that the confusion is there already...

In Europe and the rest of the world (I am in Sweden) HiKoki will be easy to adapt to: tools look the same and the name makes sense, it is simply a shortening of Hitachi Koki to HiKoki.

Yeah, The Hitachi Compound Fission Saw is great, those Fast Neutron Blades go thru just about anything with ease.
