New Kapex blade came in used?

I just purchased a brand new 80 tooth Kapex saw blade from Factory Authorized Outlet and received a blade that had some saw dust on it and what looks like a bit of wood fiber deposits behind teeth.  [huh] Also, the blade was not fixed in the packaging by a round plastic "button" like TS 55 blades are.

Am I seeing things or the blade looks absolutely normal to you? Does Festool test every blade and wood shavings could come from testing?

I don't have a Kapex but my TS55 blades from Festool have always come lightly oiled and with no sawdust. Does "Factory Authorized Outlet" guarantee you always get new items, and not "refurbished demo" products or something?

I considered placing an order with Factory Authorized Outlet late in 2017 and did a couple of web searches looking for customer feedback. The business gets a D- rating from the BBB and other sites have complaints for receiving used items. I decided to spend my money elsewhere.

Have you contacted the outlet?

Festool dealers are supposed to sell new and unused items .

But if I had any questions about something I bought I would contact the seller first before posting here.

The main reason is it helps with the relationship you have with the dealer as there may not be a issue with the product.

If there is they should make it good.

Just my 2 cents

Thank you everyone for your suggestions!

[member=41090]justaguy[/member] - I've never purchased from Factory Authorized Outlet before and wasn't aware of their low BBB rating. I'll have to be more careful in the future and do my research on new vendors. I'm not overly concerned since I got it through eBay, so I can easily return it if I want to.

[member=10147]jobsworth[/member] - I have contacted them before posting, no response for 36 hours. I'll give them one more day, then try calling. They don't sell Festool exclusively, they may not know the answer, so I thought I'd ask here before escalating, maybe this is completely normal and all Kapex blades should look like that.

Unless it is advertised as such, I won't accept a used item.

You are safe as you got it thru eBay which has one of the best buyer protection programs I know of. I have bought several hundreds of things thru eBay and never have had any purchase or settlement not in my favour. I use Paypal which was an additional layer of protection before it was part of eBay.

I've purchased several Kapex blades and each one arrived with a wax/oil treatment applied to the blade. I know this because I had to use thinner to remove the treatment before I mounted the blade on the saw. This also applies to TSC blades and HKC blades.

I suspect you got a used blade  [sad]  that someone returned and Factory Authorized put back in inventory.  [mad]

The company referenced is a real Festool Dealer.  I would suggest that you call them.  Stuff sometimes happens with emails.  It could be something just as innocent as a demo blade being put on a shelf and getting mixed up and shipped as an accident.  Sometimes accidents happen.
