New Metabo SXE 150 2.5/5.0 BL sanders

Wow, it does look just like it (without having actually side by side compared). Not any cheaper as far as i can see...

Looks exactly like mine in a "lemon-n-lime" sense.

There was not a lot left to improve on the DEROS, and Metabo has been teamed with Bosch and Mafell before... So it seems like a win-win for both companies.

Yeah that looks exactly the same as my deros. Indasa have just announced a new sander which looks very much like a deros too although there are 1 or 2 small differences

Still too expensive .These need to be about £160.00 to make sense .

How on earth is it too expensive!? My mirka deros is one of the best tools I have ever come across, £160 won't get you any where near the quality or spec of the deros or metabo. Idiotic reply

Only problem so far with the Deros is that the cord attachment wears out with frequent use. I think we are on our third replacement cord already. With replacement I mean "bought another cord", and not for free - they are very expensive and not covered by warranty.

In my opinion it is a design fault. The sander is great in use though. Happy to see Metabo pick it up. Still not too sure on that cable connectors longevity though.  [mad]

It probably cost no more to make than any of their other sanders. Its far too expensive for what is only a sander.  The Mirka is a great tool, but not for the money .  The components are nothing that special. If Metabo etc can produce and sell other Pro sander for far less , explain how they are  not just charging a premium for the "latest toy"

if the ETS/EC sanders are 160£ then they would make some financial cents...
And if the Metabo was 160£ then that also would be a financially wiser purchase.
Or is the point that they just sand, and any 160£ sander does the same task?

Your on a festool forum and moaning about the price of the mirka sander!? Top quality sanders/tools are more expensive that's life. To say it should be £160 is idiotic. You can't even pick up one of festools cheapest sanders for anywhere near that. Mirka actually sold all dero's at a loss for a while because of the cost of the design and parts. It's the price you pay for quality kit, stop whinging about it and go and buy a sub par sander for £160 then

I'd imagine that tiny little sealed-for-life EC motor would be fairly expensive to build, whether by robots or by hand.

Bought one of these just before Christmas. I got the 5.0 version and bought the Mirka 125 pad to go with it.  I also bought a spare Mirka plug connector to add a plug-it pigtail and make it more system friendly with my Festool gear.

The purchase was inspired by own post a couple months back about sanders. I was saying how my only (almost) daily sanders, for the longest time, was a pair of RO125s. I explained that I LOVED the all round abilities of these sanders but semi hated them for their weight and feisty handling. .
The post made me realise that it might be time to treat myself to a more ergonomic option. I liked the Mirka over the ETS EC as I could have the 5mm orbit with both 125&150 pads.
So when I saw the Metabo version on sale for a mere £240 before Xmas, I jumped.

I love the sander so far. I love the light weight and easy handling compared to the large rotex, and the quieter operation is also welcome. I’ve never had a 5mm orbit before, and I’m pleased with its ability to remove material quickly while still being a precise and refined finish sander! Love it! My only criticism would be that the DC seems slightly less good than my RO125, not in a deal breaking way, but I notice the sander is more dusty after use than the RO.

Over all I would highly recommend. The standard UK price at FFX.co.uk is £300 without sys, £320 with. Happy to answer any Qs

I believe it is an exact copy of the pre-Bluetooth Mirka Deros.

[member=2085]Henrik R / Pingvinlakrits[/member] can I ask what part of the Mirka cable break so often? The plug end for the tool is rewireable on both the lead that came with mine and the spare plug I bought for the pig tail.

Do the pins in the plug connector go or is it the actual cable that breaks internally? Just trying to be prepared.

Cheers man.
