New MFT/3 IPAD app

[Tool Tech]

Tool Tech was at the Ottawa Woodworking show last weekend selling Festool and we wanted to create a clean look for the cash register... something functional, high-tech and that looks cool...  This setup was to reflect the simplicity and efficiency of the Festool system.

I used three ipads;
                              -one to enroll customers in our contest; ( they would sign up by entering their name and email )
                              -another to process credit card transactions;
                              -and another one for invoices

They were all linked back to our shop server through the 3G network, so we could look up prices and inventory....

All we used were three apps available on itunes.

This saved us a ton of time when we got back on monday after the show, as we didn't need to re-enter every sale and email address manually in our system.   
We also saved paper, since the receipts were directly emailed to the customer...with most of them now carrying their iphone or blackberry, they would receive their confirmation instantly.  98% of customers had no problem with a paperless invoice... Nice way to save the environment and time!  [thumbs up]

To make the inserts, I used the Festool OF 1010 and the template guide, using the ipad dimensions that were available online.

Very cool, thanks for posting.

This is the best retail application of iPad I have seen or heard of.

I am not an Apple fanboy by any means, but I tip my hat to you for putting something like this together with a few iPads, a few apps, some plywood, hinges, a router and of course the imagination to think of it and the smarts to make it work.

I wasn't at the show but as a customer would be very happy with an instant e-mail receipt.

Nice setup, I was looking forward to the moncton show with elite tools and there festool display, wanted to testdrive the kapex one more time before I pull the trigger. But I called them and its a no go on the display but they will bring me a kapex.

It wasn't all that great... I mean I entered the draw to win the 125 and it appears that it didn't work as Patrick did not contact me to say that I won!  ???

Seriously, I made a beeline for the show after work on Friday. I biked there and then home in the rain. Patrick was a relief for wet eyes! He immediately fixed me up with a brand new RO 90. It worked like a charm for the project that I needed it and it came JIT!

Patrick, great idea and awesome execution.  Very interested in what POS system you're using back at the shop for inventory and order management and what bridge / link you were using between that system and the ipads.

Hi Sean,
used Lightspeed Mobile App  ( connected to my lightspeed store, inventory and website ),  CC terminal from innerfence App for credit card processing,  chimapdedoo for email sign-up.

Do you have an Android version for the Galaxy Tab?

Not sure they have that app for android...  Just know that the mobile app store  requires buying the software to run you store location in order to connect to it ( only on mac)
