I'm thinking of getting a new nail gun, at the moment I can't decide if to go for the new im360 or the im350+. The pros I see with the im360 is better batteries newer technology meant to work better in the cold etc. The disadvantages I see is uses different nails so can't use the cheap nails with cheap gas. Or do I just stick to the im350 which uses the same nails as everybody else. Then has the rubbish batteries. What are people's thoughts. I've used the hilti and don't like it

I have the im90 which is the older im360, it is a much better gun, more power, you dont need to press so hard to get it to fire which is a bonus when fitting nogs etc so they dont move as easy when you press the gun on them
I also have the long magazine which I use for floor decking
It will fire the cheaper nails but you need to buy the gas, I am surprised no one has made an adaptor to fit onto the cheap gas - It would not be difficult with a 3d printer
The only downside (apart from the gas) is there is no rafter hook with the gun and they are the best part of £60 to buy

If you decide to go for a im350 get the 350+ it has a much better nose and a very strong hook - Ive broke loads of im350 hooks

First fix on site likes of studs, roofs, floors etc. I've had mine for about 9 I just feel it's getting worn. I clean it and it's fine for half an hour then it goes back to the piston not retuning. I have taken it in to get a service to see if they can see what's up with it. It's the previous model im350.  I recently got the new im65 and am much happier with the new batteries

I bought a new im65 last year and it has been in to be fixed 3 times, It will not drive the nails in all the way about 1 in 6 nails
Last time it went in I was asked if I nail a lot of mdf because they dont like it
Paslode are aware of the problem but will not do anything about it even though there are lots of people with the same problem
but strangely I have notice recently that i have not had the issue with a different brand of brads so it could be that the new im65 does not work well with their own nails [big grin]

That's good to know I've always wondered if the cheaper nails can be used. If can it properly swing my choice to the im360 I don't mind buying the gas

I don't use them much but is the 18 volt dewalt up two much it does not use gas so it is cheaper to run

For what it's worth I've had a 350 for 10+ years and with regular cleaning it had been flawless up until a few months ago when it decided that it no longer wanted to fire when upside down! This lead to a lot of swearing and despite my best efforts I could not coax the old boy to work. I had resigned myself to the fact that a new gun was on the cards when a friend advised me to send it to paslode.
Well £64 and one week later my gun arrived back and in all honesty at first glance I wouldn't have believed it was mine were it not for a few familiar battle scars. It had been cleaned re-badged and cleaned again. I promptly loaded it up and tried an upside down nail. Boom.... Perfect and silky smooth.

Then as a bonus, in the paper work was a little printout with a lifetime nail count......
356347 Thank god I didn't have to drive them all by hand (thou if that were the case I'm sure that number would have been considerably less)

So my advise as was passed to me, is send your gun away even if it's just to see how many times you've made the sparky jump!

I tend to buy new guns every 2-4 years, I find it better to sell the old ones while they still have a bit of value and right it off against my tax, Its very rare i clean them, i put though a couple of boxes per month so about 4000-8000 nails on average

I have sent it away to get serviced next week I'll need to use a hammer

Have got my nail gun serviced. Unfortunately when I went to pick it up it wasn't ready. Some part had just come in and the technician had bring off on holiday. I also decided to get the new im360ci. My reason is I personally don't think the im350+ is a huge improvement over what I currently have. I am going to be keeping my old gun at the moment.    I have given the new gun a quick try on first impressions the depth is easier to adjust. Feels a touch heavier but still well balanced. I did also try some of the d head type nails. What I did notice is that it will fire out 2 nails at the same time if using the old D head type. So maybe best using the full head nails. There  was also a strip of the pro screws I noticed bits of plastic fly off them

I have had double firing occasionally with 50's/63's but never the thicker 75's & 90's

It was the 63s haven't tried the 75 or 90. I did go and buy a box of the 63 today. They where selling boxes dirt cheap £30 + vat

For first fix or even 2nd fix i would go with the Dewalt  battery guns. No gas needed and takes the paslode nails. ;)

The dewalt 1st fix does look good but i have read a few comments that the driver blades do not last very long and are not covered by warranty

Ifit,

It's a replaceable part and is the only servicing the guns need. I was lucky enough to test the guns out while in the prototype stage before they were released to the public. They are great guns and even though they're only battery powered they can still whack the nails in fine. I had always used paslodes when working for subbies but these guns are way more reliable.
