I just finished loading the new products being released in May on the Tool Home website. I will enhance the content with some more pictures, etc. later but all of the salient data is there now.

There have been several questions today about the changes in the saw. Here they are:

Flat housing for flush-cutting
With a flat housing offset to ½”, you’ll make straight cuts perfectly parallel to any edge, further increasing your range of applications with the TS 55 REQ.

Easy-to-read, dual-depth scale
The large, readable scale indicates depth setting, for cuts on or off the guide rail. Included in the kit is also a self-adhering Imperial scale.

Micro-adjustable depth control
An integrated micro-adjust knob enables precise depth adjustment, so the depth of cut can be fine tuned.

Better dust control
The dust channel has an improved design that further enhances dust extraction efficiency.

Greater bevel range
This saw has positive stops at 0 and 45 degrees plus a detent-override that extends the bevel range from -1 to 47 degrees.

Improved Riving Knife
The riving knife now emerges before the saw blade for easier positioning in existing cuts lines.

Streamlined Splinterguard
The splinter guard also has an improved design.

They are all launching May 1. I am taking pre-orders and as usual, credit card authorizations will expire after 30 days so it doesn't make a lot of sense to run the card until April. If you want to get on the list for May 1, all you have to do is call or email me.

EDIT:

Just for Fun, here are the ones you might not have seen or felt...

Included in the kit is also a self-adhering Imperial scale.

Is this imperial scale now available for older model saws?

I just compared the depth scales of the two saws and they appear to match as far as the radius.

The image below shows them side-by-side. The older saw is on the right & the sticker is between them...

Note that the plastic part of the scale on the REQ is wider. It appears that the sticker could be used on the older saw although, it would straddle the plastic and metal.

I assume it will be available as a spare part but I can't say for certain yet. I looked on EKAT and the last entry for the REQ is 704937 and is called, "Sticker". It has no price associated with it so I don't really know what to make of that.

Thanks, Tom. I appreciate your looking into this for me. I know most would say to get used to metric but I don't think I'm alone in this matter.

The baseplate on the new saw seems wider -- is that the case or just the picture?

Scot

They're the same size, Scot. In fact, it looks like it's the same plate though EKAT gives it a different number.
