New soft close hinges

It looks like a new Blum product.

Pretty cool!  Thanks for posting that.

Wow, that is a seriously compact soft close!  8)

Seth

the soft close on blum are all intergrated into the 35mm secion of the hinge and can be switched off.

I had only seen the add on type units before.

Seth

The wholesale price is pretty good too, cost less then buying the hinge and the add on soft close mechanism. Seth we started getting them early this year.

John

Can someone post the part number?  I was about to bulk order the older hinge w/ soft close mechanism for a job in January.  If the wholesale price is lower I gotta spend some more time doing research.

Yeah the crown kitchen I fitted the other week had built in Blum soft closers very neat they looked slightly different to those in your picture as these were standard clip on's not face frame ones. You could hardly tell they had soft close built in they look almost the same as standard hinges but with a small on/off switch on the cup of the hinge.

Don't know if the PN is the same in the US but 71B355180 is for a standard 110* hinge for a full overlay door that uses screws in Canada. Check the Richelieu site and see if you can get any where.

Bill,

there are several part numbers.  I am going to attach a pdf file, but I have no idea how the forum software likes multiple page pdf's.

Pretty well.  I eliminated some pages from the brochure.

I've already used these on some 48" tall wall cabinet doors. They work as nicely as the old "plunger" soft close and this is so much cleaner looking. I was never a fan of the old soft close.

I just finished a kitchen with those new soft close and unlike Tim,I don't think they work very well.
First, the soft action start when the door is about at 45* THEN the "closing" is very slow!
I even turn them to OFF and still had a soft closing.
I video a door to show my boss.I am going to try to post it here to show what i mean.

I tried those a few months ago on a problem job. They worked good on the few smaller doors but not very well at all on bigger, heavier doors. For the bigger doors I got the add-on clips and those worked good. Can't remember though if I used the same hinge or not. I vaguely remember having to do something odd on that job but maybe it was something else. Too many Dead shows many years ago.

Ran across the first generation Salice integrated soft close hinges a few months ago on an install.  While adjusting the cabinet doors, which entails me quickly opening and closing to double check, the mechanisms kept breaking!  Then the cabinet rep had the gall to blame me for breaking them... [mad]  Needless to say, I dislike the Salice ones...

If you turn them off then close them the soft close will still work because they need to be closed in order to compress the soft close mechanisim. I use these all the time and once the soft close is turned off there is no way for the door to still close softly.

I would like to see the video you took to see what you dislike about the hinges.

I tried last night to post the video, but no luck.Maybe someone can help with this.
Yes i know about closing the door after i switch off and then open and it should be off at that point.Today, went to another job with the same hinges and tried it.Did the same thing.Even turning them off it still has a soft action.
