I just purchased my first of what I hope to be many Festool products!

My trusty old PC buzz sander finally died so I needed a replacement.  I picked-up an ETS125 EQ.

I just used it on small shop project to finish-off the wood before staining.  It feels real nice and seems to work well for the task at hand.

Congrads on your first Festool purchase.  It is a long slippery green slope but one heck of a ride.

OH and welcome to the FOG [wink]

Mike,

Welcome to the FOG  [welcome] [welcome] and Happy Holidays!  Hope you enjoy your new sander and if we can be of assistance - just ask!

Welcome to the FOG and the wonderful world of Festool.  A sander is a great first tool to get hooked and from there, well it is a long, slippery slope...

Lot's of great folks here with knowledge galore so don't be afraid to ask questions or seek input on a new tool purchase -- we will help answer them and cheer you on.

I feel like the sanders are good, but hooked up to one of the CTs, they are amazing! good luck with your new tool!

Mike    [welcome] to FOG, you will enjoy the help and advise you will get from all the FOG Brethern. This is a great place and your first taste of the Green Cool Aid will lead you to more for sure.

Thanks for the friendly welcomes, and I'm sure I'll learn a lot from this site.

I have a big project lined-up for 2012 Q1 and if it gets the Green light I'll be picking-up one of the plunge saws and a LR32 system/router along with a CT26.

That should put me well on my way to full addiction!

Yup that's what got me started as well.
I hope you get the green light [wink].

Welcome and Merry Christmas.

... and if you haven't realised it yet - just leave your credit card at your Festool dealers shop  [big grin]

Got the go-ahead for my job on Tuesday!

Bought a 1010 and a LR32 55" rail, they had to order my plate and centering mandrel, but it should be here next week.

I needed to use the 1010 today to assemble some plywood boxes, I wanted to rabbit the edges and then glue and staple the cuts.  I realized that the 1010 didn't come with an edge guide (it did come with a rail guide, however I think it would be better paired with the edge guide instead), so I stopped at the shop in the morning on the way in to my shop.  They didn't have the guide in stock, so I ordered it.

Since I just bought the 1010 and couldn't use it, my guy suggested I take the demo 1400 they had in the showroom so I could get the job done today.

Well, all I can say is, what a great tool!

It was real easy to set-up for the task, and it operated smoothly and efficiently.  Very comfortable too.  I had to do about an hour of repetitive passes and it was not fatiguing at all.  The 1010 would have been even more comfortable than the larger 1400.  The only complaint I could make would be that the edge guide didn't seem to lay flat on the bottom of the router base.  There was a gap of about .125" between the base and the guide. This caused long splinter type pieces that come off when rabbiting plywood to get stuck in the gap. It wasn't a big deal, and I may have not set it up properly, but it would be better if they fit tightly.

Well, I've now been bitten by the bug and will likely end-up needing some sort of rehab group to stop enlarging my collection of Green tools.  If I can make money faster with a better tool, then I don't feel so bad spending the extra money for the good stuff.

I guess that's the best way to look at it.
[big grin]

The only therapy I know of is to keep buying more  ;D!  And yes, these tools do make things faster, easier and smarter -- hence the tag line!
