Festool is releasing new sanding products in North America in October.

These are launching October 1. I'll follow up with more detail...

The two most significant differences is that they have brushless motors and are lower profile.

The lower profile makes them more ergonomic/less "tippy".

The brushless motor makes them last longer without maintenance and they have more power to size.

There are other enhancements and I'll post about them as I understand them more thoroughly. Perhaps some of you Euro members, who have already been exposed to these, can comment also?

Where's our Canadian dealers? What's coming to Canada? Is the MIDI on the Canadian launch?

Also add the following
Sanding pad break that will stop the pad immediately so no marks on the surface and avoids having to touch the pad to stop the rotation.
Brushless motor is powerful so will continue to run at a constant RPM.
Hose detector - The ETS EC series can be set to work only when the hose is over the dust port. The machine is supplied to work with or without a hose but very simply can be reset to work as described above.
Easy switch - As the switch forms part of the body the grip is easy on the hand and keeps the shape of the ETS EC ergonomic.
Hope this helps

Thanks, Phil!

I was just starting to understand those enhancements as I'm building my product pages...

OK, did Santa come early this year or does Festool not realize that Christmas is in December, not October?  [wink]

You should ask him. You're an elf...

I played with these at AWFS and they are really easy on the hands. Lower profile and balance nicely. Sanding pad brake works well for dough heads like myself. The hose with sleeve is great but $375, yikes!.

Looks like it's going to be Oktsanderfest at Tom's place.

10 meter plug-it, am I reading that right?  [eek]

I think so ... not that we're likely to see it in Oz though, it has way to much useful potential!

That is a LONG power cord - and hose for that matter.

I can see where some might have use for that - but not worth $60 to me considering that I generally plug in to the dust extractor which I bring close to the work...

I am mildly curious though as to whether those cords are the "sander-only" variety or the more universal ones that will work with the saws and routers and the like too?

Some nice improvements to the sanders.

Is the Whole US market for Festool, one giant loss lead.
The reason I ask is those US price for their new products are on par with Ryobi prices down here. I think someone's taking the P out of us.

As a North American hobbiest DIYer I cannot justify replacing my current Festool sanders. I will await the arrival of the HKC 55 which I know will likely take a very long time.

I predict that we will get the new Systainers before the end of the year. We need something as a stocking stuffer.

Psh, don't blame us! Compared to Euro prices, we're near double on some stuff.

Okay okay. I get that it's big. Other items seem to have relative parity, not sure why the Aussies (and Canadians) get screwed in the pooch.

Yep, that UG stand is quite pricy for NA, only 50 bucks cheaper than the Ausie price.
But those new ETS 150's seem like a real bargain, they are being advertised in NA, at half the Ausie price. Good luck to you, that's what I say.

Are these new hoses tapering from 32mm to 27mm like the newest hoses for the MINI/MIDI?

Thanks,

Tom

Will the new 32/22 hose even fit a MIDI with the right angle connection?
