Well I'm looking at getting a new truck in the next 6 months or so. I currently have a 2004 dodge 3500 with a Cummins and nv5600 6 speed great truck that has served me well and I will be keeping it. I had a 1999 3500 that I hated to get rid of but it was an automatic and every time I turned around it was in the shop because the transmission just couldn't handle the torque of the mighty Cummins. So here lies the question are the new Dodge automatic transmissions any good behind the Cummins or should I stick with manual tranny witch is now the G56. As I'm getting older I don't like shifting gears as much as my younger days but I need something that will hold up as I tow a lot not only for work but my family has cattle and horses so some of the loads can get quit heavy especially when we're hauling hay. I know the GM trucks have an Allison transmission witch is really good but I'm a Cummins man to the core don't so it has to be a Dodge don't even bother mentioning a Powerstroke not gonna happen!!
