Hi guys quite new to festool slowly building a collection of tools
Got the ts 55,carvex 420,midi extractor,two 1400 rails and other odds and sods
I'm after the worktop jig and a suitable router 1400 or 2200????

What "Worktop Jig" are you referring to?

Festool APS 900 Worktop Template

The Festool APS 900 Worktop Template is compatible with corner and panel connectors that have depths of up to 900mm. It allows the user to control and guide tools effectively one counter surface to achieve the results desired.

Works with cutters up to 14mm and copying rings up to 30mm.

That's the baby,that's it aps 900/ mfs-v  200 I think is the 1400 router powerful enough for the job?

Now I'm mad that my German Dealer didn't turn me on to that jig when I was spending big €'s with them!! [crying]

Oh well....maybe next year....or the year after...or.......

I dont know Frank, that seems like quite the specialized item for countertop installations.... But when you get bitten by the Green Bug--!

Soggo, sorry I cant help on which router to get, I am usre some of our International members may have used the jig and can help in your quest.

Yeah...truthfully, not for me! Just had to whine about NAINA! [big grin]
I'll never do a kitchen counter...at least I don't think so.

Personally i would go for the of2200. It will make life easier with the more powerful motor, with less strain on it compared to the of1400. Especially if you will be doing more than the odd one or two worktops. Which given that you are considering the festool jig rather than a Trend or similar one, i take it you will be doing more than the odd one.  [smile]

If you're doing worktops go for the 2200 , the1400 would be at its limits and possibly struggle. For clarity I own neither ( mines a Makita ) but speaking with friends that own both, the 2200 is the one to go for especially if you do solid surface tops .

Hi welcome to the group
I use the of1400 with a trend jig and it works for me,
it's a good router but I only do about 1or 2 worktops a mouth, but if you
are doing a lot of worktop then go for the 0f2200, but the of1400 works
for me as an all rounder router from worktops to mouldings,
hope this helps

Cheers guys looks like the 2200 then,I do around 5-6 work tops a month and I defo have the green bug use dewalt (elu) at the min swapping at the end of the month
Been saving for holiday,now that's paid its green time lol
I shall post pics soon

I don't have the festool jig but I have the of2200 and use it with trend worktop jig and its a winning combo, i'd go for the of2200 if your going to be doing any amount of worktops its a beast of a router but it's defo the right tool for the job

1400 will be fine but the 2200 will be the work horse with top end extraction.
