everything else works on the vac and all my cords work on all tools but can't get power from outlet on ct22.  i bought it at Woodcraft about ten months ago.  should i bring it to them or is there something i should try.  i can't really afford to not have it next week, doing a huge stair refinishing job where the auto on vac would work like a charm.  any help would be appreciated, thanks eric

Eric, call Festool's service dept., they can talk you though the trouble shooting process on the phone. Have torx drivers handy.

Brice, thanks for the reply.  I figured as much, I would love to fix it over the phone.  You are the man, great website and I hope Festool is treating you well, you deserve it.  Although I have learned an unbelievable amount about how to get the most from the Festool system from you my knees thank you every day for the Skillers plug.  Adam (sales rep) drove from Boston to Hartford ct area and outfitted my whole team.  I might as well be modeling for them and the pockets and overall design make you money period, especially on install.  Thank you once again and as one of the guys here who isn't my dads age i hope to chat with you about our favorite toys i mean tools for decades to come, Eric

I talked to someone at Festool and they said to send it back and they would take care of it.  I then realized that I really couldn't be without it.  I also found that it only doesn't work when I use the RO 150 or DX 93, but does work with TS75 and trion, go figure.  I tried bending the outlet plug prongs outward a little b/c it seems that it can almost fall out, it's so loose.  Sometimes by moving it around I can get it to work?  Just trying to see if anyone knows anything, b/c I really don't want to send it away and rely on festools customer service(which I'm sure is top notch).  Any suggestions would be awesome, thanks

Eric, don't mess around, send it back before you've had it for a year, after the first year you have to pay to ship it to Festool.

uhh, I hate that answer, this is a sure sign that I'm addicted, thanks Brice

Just a suggestion....The dealer I bought my equipment from told me that if something has to be sent back to festool, they will give me a loner till mine is returned. does hurt to ask Woodcraft.
That's why I bought my tools locally not online.

Buy a cheap replacement - while it's being repaired.

Just a thought!

i just recently did my taxes and saw what my festool bill, alone was at Woodcraft last year.  I think I might qualify for stock holdings in the company now.  I'm taking it there tomorrow.  I now do my business through Timmy c at Festool Junkies.com b/c he's  the sickest dude in cyberspace.  If something of Tim's breaks, he'll probably walk to connecticut and finish the project for me ;D

I went to my local Woodcraft and they said that Festool had sent them replacement outlets and gave me one.  Things were good for about a week.  I am now still experiencing the same situation.  I have figured out that every other tool  I use with it and usually the cords with one groove work, most of the time, but the cords for sanders, dominoe, etc are sketchy at best.  Does anyone have any advice to fix.  My warranty runs out in a few months, but I have found from before that I cannot live without it.

Eric,

It seems from your description that lower draw tools don't trigger the vac but higher draw tools do. Is that an accurate assessment? If so, let Festool know this as it may halp them diagnose the exact problem.

Hi,

If I were you I would not continue messing around.  The frustration level alone is probably worth the cost of a cheap vac to use while yor CT is getting fixed. Take advantage of the warranty while you can.  Even if you solve it yourself, who knows it may act up again when it is too late to use the warranty.  You could always sell the cheap vac or keep it for some other clean up use.

Eric, this issue came up in Henderson, David McGibbon told us Festool gets the outlets from another supplier and did indeed get a bad batch. David said the problem is being fixed, he didn't say it was fixed. Your replacement may well be a bad one too, who knows. I've got the same advice for you that I posted above, send it back, Festool will fix it.

i had the same problem with my CT Mini. i think perhaps the problem may be in the switch (the manual/off/auto switch) and not the plug receptacle. (no juice getting from switch to plug outlet)

i had smelled some burning insulation smell prior to the things malfunctioning, so something burned out.

my local dealer (Japan Woodworking) gave me a loaner extractor for the week it took to get mine fixed. but now my vac doesn't seem to have the oomph that it used to. perhaps they were drawing too much power and that's why my CT Mini seemed to pull as well as its larger cousins?

Brice, I should have listened to you, but Woodcraft guy convinced me it would work.  I will be sending it back on Monday, thanks Eric
