I have a OF 1010 router (bought used) that has never really plunged/returned smoothly. I've disassembled the slide mechanism, checked posts for burrs, cleaned posts and slide cavities, and oiled with MILTEC oil. The slide down is fine, but the return requires the handle be pulled up just a bit. However, without lifting, it seldom rises on its own.

I'm considering sending it in to Festool for "repair", but don't have a clue what kind of costs I might be looking at (exclusive of freight, which is an issue unto its own...)

Any thoughts/experiences with this?

I bought one used and it did the same. I just cleaned the posts real well and lubricated with air tool oil, it's lightweight stuff, and moved it up and down several times until it was like new. Beyond that I can only guess the bushing it rides on is jamming it up or the spring is too weak?

Without the spring in, it slides up/down quite nicely. When I install the spring and retaining bolt, it goes down well but sticks coming up. This causes me to, right now, question the retaining bolt. MAYBE it's causing the drag! I'll check that next.

Otherwise, can anyone help with what Festool costs might be? (evaluation costs, at least)

Can't help on costs but this seems like something you can fix. Are there any burrs causing the spring to hang up?

I'll check the spring as well, but not sure if I can assess anything inside of the spring cavity which might hang the spring. Good thought just the same, I'll try and check.
