I just picked up an OF 1400 a few weeks ago, what a huge differents from my old 1400. My first one I bought late 90's from 7 Corners.(sorry to say they are no longer sell on the net, bought most of my tools from them over the years)for those who had not known about the old 1400, one of the first VS plunge router, looks much like most of todays router. The handle & plunge set-up is so much easier to use over the old & most of the existing routers on the market, I have trouble with arthritis & nerve damage in my hands(along with the rest of my body), so have the elongated handle & large plunge lock knob makes use not a pain. Second, the VS dial & trigger lock is right at your finger tips, where it should be instead of on top of the tool. The third feature I like is the ease of depth adjustment. If I had any complaints it would be with the dust collection & the lack of a good way to mount this model in a table (other than the CMS). I will be adding a new OF 1010, mostly to have a lighter router, but also to replace my old 1000 (that left with 1400 & the rest of my shop). I have a large stable of routers(currently 8 in all) & each get used on a weekly bases, but the Of 1400 has quickly become my go to router. I would have to say this is the best router on the market at this size. If it had a flaw, it would be it's lack of easy way to mount it into  a table.( Triton's routers would have my vote for best table mounted units)

Brent, for what it's worth...7 Corners went toes-up last summer. The owner decided to shut it down after 80 years in business. Likes the weather in California better than in Minnesota.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they got an offer for the land that was considerably more than the business was worth or could generate. Hard to argue with them selling out under those circumstances...

Wow, I agree. It was 4 buildings plus the land so we're talking serious money considering the location is a block from the Wilds arena. Plus, the owner has been living in California for the last 7-8 years so you know how that goes.

There was an older style 1400? I never knew that, never seen one. Could you please share some pics of the older one?

I don't think there was an OF1400 released in the US prior to the current model (which has been around a while).  I impatiently waited for Festool to release a router with a 1/2" collet and pre-ordered one of the first batch of OF1400s brought to the US.  It looks exactly the same as the pictures on the current Festool site.  Perhaps you had the OF1000?  That was around for quite a while prior to the 1400.  I think there were bigger routers NAINA back then, but not here.

I also have issues with carpal tunnel/ulnar nerve/arthritis and all the Festool tools I have are fantastic in that regard.  Especially sanders.

Enjoy your 1400.

Maybe it's one of the Festo's?  Here's the 2000 couldn't find

the 1400 though I saw the 1000.

I believe there was an OF 1400 EQ before the EBQ.
Maybe that's the one(?)

Kind regards
