Hoping someone can clear this up for me.... My manual says the max cutter diameter for the OF1010 is 35mm but the Festool website and a number of dealer sites state 50mm?

I am looking to cut some dados in MDF for some shaker style doors using a 4 wing slot cutter thats 6mm thick but has a diameter of 40mm in total.

[member=11196]Peter Parfitt[/member] and I had this conversation a little while ago and he was going to ask Festool for clarification. If he never got an answer, perhaps [member=41214]Phil Beckley[/member] could advise?

A slotting cutter of that type would be below the opening in operation anyway. As long as you don't let the router retract it won't matter what the opening is. I understand the not needing the worry of forgetting and retracting absentmindedly but you can do the cut as is.

The hole in the base casting is about 53mm diameter.  The removable plastic dust shroud reduces this to about 49mm.

But I guess you'd struggle to get a cutter anywhere close to those sizes with an 8mm shank.  A slot cutter could be an exception.

Yea it's an 8mm shank arbour its on. Wealdon tools do a mix and match set where you pick arbour size and you pick the slot cutter thickness but they all have a 40mm diameter from memory.
