OF1010 Retraction Question...

I got my Recon OF1010 and love it.  Only issue I may have is that the springs seem to be very weak and seem to be reluctant to push the router back up after a plunge.  I mean, it goes back up, but very slowly and weakly. Should it push right back up like my 1400 or is the 1010 meant to be a very soft return?  If it's meant to be that way, that's fine.  I just wondered.

Maybe a little polishing and dry lube.  Won't hurt to call service with questions.

Mine is the same way. I have been meaning to lube the rails but have not got around to it yet. I have seen videos of the 1010 being used with the LR32 and it looks like it returns quickly after each plunge. That is how it should be.

My 1010 had same issue when using the lr32.... After I cleaned the posts/rails and sprayed alittle lube , it worked perfect. Never happened again after that.

It looks like you've gotten the same advice that I would give.

You also have a warranty on the tool, so please don't hesitate to take advantage of that if you feel the tool is not operating optimally. The service department can also assist by phone if needed.

Mine is exactly the same way.  I cleaned the guide columns very carefully and sparingly lubricated them with Militec-1 which impregnates the metal with the good slippery stuff.  It's still slower to retract than my OF 1400, but quicker than it was when I received it.

I have both, the 1010 has a slower return but does not need as much force to plunge down as the 1400 requires. I got the 1010 after a run of 400 holes with the LR 32 system and the 1400. To much of a work out. You will get use to it, it is a light weight router that is a pleasure to use.

Got it.  Thanks for the help.  I'll clean and lube before calling in.  I'm really curious about this Militec 1.  I may have to give it a try.  Thanks again.

Not sure about the Militec, but our recommendation has always been a lightweight machine oil.
