The lock mechanism allows me to tighten, but I can push it down and get it to engage to be able to remove a bit. Thanks, Jim

It is a rocker - push one end to lock it to fit the bit, push on the other end to lock it when removing the bit.

Did you by chance take the router out the CMS and leave the trigger locked in the on position?

and following up on Brice's question ...or accidentally locked the trigger when picking it up?  I have done that one before.
