why didnt it work, because the trigger switch is also blocked with dust

to explain, every single time i use the router in the festool router table the ratchet system gets blocked so removal of the cutter is between problematical to damm difficult

THIS time the trigger switch was blocked with dust but i didnt notice it so when i took it out today........... i had a problem

so i phoned the uk service department and was chearfully told the following

"dust jambing the ratchet is normal" it was quite clear from tone that its a fact of life with OF1400s

and "jambed triggers are frequent, youll have to send it in"

are these statements by the service department true?

you might say im a little upset to find my deadline in jepardy with a "NORMAL" festool problem that i didnt know about

DD, can you give me more info about what dust collection you were using and what table you were mounted in?

Specifically, I was planning on table based routing using the CMS and a CT22.

Take the housing apart and vacuum out the switch. It's not that hard. I have done it twice.

eli, ct22 as dust extractor and the basis table

the basis table was the older version of the new cms table

Clear the switch with compressed air.  If that's not available, a can of Canned Air from Radio Shack or equivalent will do the trick.

Does seem like something that shouldn't have to be done, I agree.

it worked, my deadline is back on track thank you

to festool i say this shouldnt need to be done, it should not be such a common fault that the uk service guy just shrugs his shoulders and says "its normal"

to reinforce the point to festool this problem is not "normal" with other cheaper routers (there arnt any more expensive than festool in the same catagory)
