Old Systainers on Vac Sys System

So at this moment, I am excited to be unpacking a full vac sys system (vacuum, vac sys 1 and 2 and vac sys sort) but very disappointed that they are in the old systainers. I mean WTF  [scared]! I just spent 23 hundred bucks and I have been building my collection since the T-Locs came out and now I have a bunch of seriously inferior boxes. Also, it's pretty consistent for me to receive damaged goods (this batch included a seriously broken box) and this makes the fourth tool that I am going to have to send back. For such a seriously pricey setup (I obviously love the tools) they sure have inferior packaging. Thought I would rant and thanks for reading. Now back to geeking out on the system  [cool]

Hi [member=63577]kasezilla[/member] - this has actually been discussed many times before and this thread might prove useful;

. Thanks Garry.  I wish the thread was current, I could add that A/C service vacuum pumps prices are way under the 'Grand' being posted on pump Costs. They are available in several sizes/motor ratings as well. Plus they're often found used from both HVAC service and Automotive shops selling off older equipment.

Leaky is absolutely correct about vac pump prices.  I've been using a surplus store bought pump...$20.00 for close to 20 years with my self made vac patterns.  I bought two of the Virutex stations three years ago so of course Festool then decided to make the Vac Sys available.  I still use my surplus pump to suck on my Festools...suction is suction.  I actually started out using my Craftsman vacs for the first jigs I made 30+ years ago then switched to using the intake on my air compressor before buying the used AC pump.

I'm using a Milwaukee vacuum pump that came off of a Milwaukee diamond core drill that was stolen. Changed to Festool connectors on the vacuum and hooked it up to the Vac Sys SE 1.

Thanks for sharing the previous thread [member=11629]GarryMartin[/member]. I should have checked first. I have to say it's a pretty sweet setup in general. Obviously not the cheapest but that's not what you expect from Festool.
