Oneida Air Systems has added an additional feature to their Dust Deputy for Festool Vacuums.

They now have a feature that holds a bag against the box using a constant negative pressure between the bag and the box. This allows you to use a regular bag to collect the dust and debris, making disposal a much neater activity.

Unfortunately, this additional feature has caused a slight price increase. They are now $249.

I bought one of the $99 DD's when they first came out and it really works well and still use it with my CT22 today.  But, I can't say I'd buy another one.    After making a Thien baffle separator for a few dollars and finding that its working as well as the DD, there's no way I'd pay the DD price again.  On top of it the top joint on my DD is failing already and its probably had less than 50 hrs of total use.

I just received my CT22 and  ETS 150/3 from Tom last week along with the DD for Festool from Oneida.  It was put to the test yesterday when I sanded down 35 cabinet shelves.  Love the sander but I could not be happier with the dust collection.  After sanding all those shelves I pulled up my sanding pad and found dust almost nonexistent.  This is exactly what I was looking for to use in my clients homes.  It was a little hard to fork over the extra $229 (at that time) for the DD but I feel it gives a professional look when in their home.  Now if I can just convince my wife how good of an investment it was.  Thanks again Tom.

You're welcome.

I'm glad you like it, I thought you would.

I also think that the impression left with clients when using tools that don't make a mess and fit together as a system is underestimated. I encourage everyone to try to get your clients to write you up on Angie's list. That's certainly the first place I look when I need a sub'.

Have to talked to Oneida about your DD, Fred?

No I haven't - I just noticed it a few days ago, but need to do that - if I can find out what I kind of adhesive to use it would be easy enough to fix.    Worst case is to simply run a bead of caulk around the bottom of lip formed where the top is joined to the funnel.

I thought this was always a standard feature.  At least I had seen it in with the other pictures.  I had also emailed Jason about the DD for Festool last week asking if this feature was included or if it was an extra and he said it's standard and that any plastic bag that would fit the 9 gallon container would work...he even said there a few bags that are provided.

I am still a bit on the fence about getting one though...would like to see more detailed pics with the setups of those that have one.  I am a bit concerned if the antistatic properties of the vac system are lost when you hook it up to the DD for Festool.  I know they supply copper tape for any of the adapters that need to be used, but would be better if they used actual antistatic adapters.

Hey Fred,

Peter (Poto) fixed his DD bucket's lid with a MDF donut for support.  MDF may be a little chewy, but should fix you up.
