No Cristal? That is the best paper as far as I am concerned.

It is pretty good.  I still like Brilliant2.  It is cheap and it lasts for me.  I sand a lot of finishes as well.  Works great when I am not taking all the paint off.

I do like the low grits of Saphir and Cristal though.

Ruben, ehhhh sometimes.

I like the scratch pads.

Why not just make it easy for everyone, and say:

Buy the RO90 and the abrasive systainer together, and get X boxes of abrasives absolutely free!

Or:

Buy the RO90 and the abrasive systainer together, and get $XX worth of abrasives absolutely free!

Then people can pick there own, whatever they want.

Simples [big grin]

yes, it works

Shane. I think as you stated an average assortment would be fine. That covers the bases and fills up 6 spots in the case so we can add the other 2! For our personal needs

To be honest, I wouldn't be interested in a systainer assortment. I am sure that it would contain many grits and types that I would not have a use for. I would prefer just an empty insert tray.

Shane, I'd love to be able to off this to our customers in our retail store! I also just purchased the RO 90 myself and would like to be able to buy an assortment for myself.

Thanks,
Larry

I'm probably not going to be much help on this one. I used to think I would by a paper systainer for my various sanders but it never happened. Except for the RO90 none of my sanders live in their original systainers anymore. The sander(s) and paper are usually in other larger Sys with other tools. I also typically buy paper by the box, 50,100 per whatever is in the different sized ones. All the paper boxes live in one cabinet in my offfice. I always know where the paper is. There is either paper in the Sys on top of the CT or I take what I need for the day/week.
I 'might' consider buying a paper Sys but it would probably have to be a really good value. For guys who are doing day in day out finishing I can see the advantages of the efficient storage. Just not my work detail.

I bought the systainer for the RO90 sand paper, I order a bunch of sand paper for it.

What I highly recommend is offer the systainer and give the folks a choice of paper they can get with it.

You can also set different ones up for applications. Finishing for example 100.120.150, 180, 220, 320 grit systaner.

Just my opinion.

This may have been mentioned, but why not quit making the systainer abrasive assortment inserts in the ridiculous flat-oriented way?

Why on earth would you pay so much money for so much wasted space?  A vertical divider system for abrasives holds probably 10x the amount of sheets compared to the dumb flat ones.

Sorry for my rant, I'm still a little p.o'd that my Festool 400 1/4 pad sander has a systainer insert that allows for NO WHERE to store an asst. of paper in any of the molded in dividers without crimping the corners or bending the paper.  If the systainer's are gonna add so much cost to the tools, and the tools will only be sold with them, then start making them with some better design decisions.

I would like to see it empty and then I stock it as needed.

I agree vertical storage is the only way to go!

What is important to me is a more module adjustable interior. So that I could move the dividers to adjust for the project at hand. I might want 100 Rubin 40 and just a few of the others but for another project I might want 200 sheets of 400... and just few of the others.

Now maybe you could develop as other here have mentioned a package that is more craft/type of project. I wish you luck with that.

I would think it would just be easier to offer x% off of x# boxes when you buy the case.... Then each person picks their own set that meets their needs. Maybe that offer is good for the life of the systainer  [big grin] [poke]

Cheers,
Steve

Although the post is from Jan., I bought an abrasive sys with my RO 90 that had both round and Delta assortment of different abrasive in it from my dealer. Well worth it since I had, in the past, tended to end up back at my dealer getting other grits or types of paper anyway when I bought other Festool sanders. [embarassed]

Hi Shane,

I was dissapointed after all the info posted and to learn that Festool would not be offering the sander asst. for the RO 90. I did some checking and learned that AllTool in Austin TX did put together an assortment with or without a systainer.  Fact is I did not purchase the Ro 90 till I knew there was at least one dealer who was enterprising enough to put it all together.

If memory serves it was around $160 with the new systainer and about $100 without.  I appreciate all the rallying YOU did to make it happen and it is unfortunate you could not make it happen.

At least there is one Festool dealer who understands what a Festol user wants and makes it available

Many thanks for trying.....

Nice work Tom  At leas tsomeone get the picture when it comes to the RO90 and paper...
I just bought not one but two RO 90/DX Abrasives systainers and filled them up big time for my use,
One for The RO 90 Round paper and and the other for The DX paper.
There was probably a better way to do this but I couldn't figure it out

Sal
