Other uses for a router table

I have a few router tables and am curious if anyone had made custom insert plates to run tools other than routers.  I have the following power tools installed in router plates that I can drop in my router table today:

Porter Cable 121 oscillating spindle sander
Dewalt portable band saw
Jig Saw

Anyone know of any other tools that aren’t in the list above?

I’ve seen your table with the inset bases.  It’s a great idea.

Festool makes the circular saw base for the CMS. 

I suppose you could drop a drill press in one if you needed a table with a large expanse of holes, but not really that practical.

I havent seen your table, so Im only imagining a modular plate type system set up in a router table.
That being the case, what about an insert that had a Kreg pocket hole jig mounted to it? Perhaps with some sort of handle extension to reach to the edge of the table top.

Thanks.  I have a new idea (Mk2) sewing that turned out kinda cool.  Works so well I’m looking to find more power tools I can mount into router table plates.

Thought about the drill press.  Only issue is the smaller ones a junk quality-wise.  Maybe There’s a good one I’ve not found.  Seen anything good but in a form factor smaller than 8x11 at the base no taller than about 18”?  I could probably modify something to make it shorter.  Don’t need table adjustment height.

Don’t really need a table saw insert.  Have the Saw Stop for that.

Here’s pick of what I’m talking about

The router plate sits about 45” off the floor with the intent of not requiring you to hunch over when using a power tool.  A Kreg jig would work well if material supports could also be attached to the router plate...which they could.  Interesting idea.  I might try it but I have a foreman which makes pocket holes less of a problem to solve for me though it’s interesting.

How about a random orbit sander or a portable drill mounted underneath. The RO would allow you to sand edges or sharpen tools pretty effectively. With an arbor chucked in the drill it would provide a vertical spindle that could be used for sanding drums, polishing wheels, flap wheels, etc.. You would have to come up with some creative ways to mount these to a router plate but clearly you already very creative!

My primary "other use" for my router table is to lower (or remove) the bit, move the fence all the way back, and pile stuff on it! Works great until I need to use it as a router table.

Sorry, just couldn't resist. Your idea of using it for the OSS is great - I think I'll copy it. Of course, when I'm using the OSS, I'll just store the router and it's plate... on the tablesaw (until I need to use the tablesaw, sigh).

I have a Porter-Cable 121 spindle sander

That I’ve made a router plate for (similar to this one).

A random or it or belt sander would be cool.
