My daughter just made a request for a toy box for her daughter.  It'll be simple, and made from baltic birch ply.  She wants the sides painted some bright colors.  My question - what paint product would you use?  I don't have a sprayer yet, so it needs to be hand-applied.  Any recommendations are welcome!

Thanks,
Dave

Kids also like the special black "chalkboard" paint.
You could paint a side or the lid with that and they can draw on it and wipe off easily.

Make sure the paint is manufactured for children's toys. Your child might not chew on the chest but the paint could rub off to toys and then onto the children's hands.

The paints should be non-toxic and may even have a child safe label.

Krylon also has a magnetic paint that could add an interesting twist to the finish.

Waterborne paints, all day long.

Many things can affect us and we are not aware of it. For example carbon monoxide, anoxia,  or hypothermia.

And you can do whatever you want and others can follow your lead but they should be informed about possible dangers.

My village has special recycling days for hazardous materials and drugs. Where I work there is a batter recycling service.

Man, my Cincinnati Reds could have used that batter recycling service!!

Seriously though, stick with waterborne, your kids and wife will appreciate it. If you want one step better, look at companies like Haba. I think their stuff is mostly dyed but has always had a good rep.
