Panel saw to go

A few days ago, I had my first opportunity to use my TS55 as a portable panel saw.

A customer needed some extra shelves made for her kitchen. The chosen material was a 3/4 plywood.

The plywood was cut in half lengthwise at the orange borg so that I could fit it into the fuel efficient Ford Escort. Then the plywood, and some 1.5" rigid pink stuff were brought to the customer's garage. (HowardH: yes, that location and that store)

Empty moving boxes filled the garage, and needed to be pushed to one side. I placed the pink stuff on the floor,  covered it with a piece of plywood, connected my two Festool guides (interesting, the conectors use a flat head screwdriver) and I cut a clean edge.

The first cut was not as dust free as I would like, especially since I had the overpriced extra dust shield attached, BUT, this was close to the edge.

The remaining cuts were a different story. The casual observer would have wondered, "where's the sawdust?" It was truly amazing -- this is what Festool is all about.

Regrettably, this wondrously dust free experience somewhat tainted my expectations for my new jigsaw, but that is another post...

Keep at least a mm of wood to the right of the saw blade and very little dust will escape. If you can't afford to loose that little bit of stock, put a sacrificial strip of wood alongside the wood you are cutting to keep the blade enclosed.
