I've seen some of Greg Paolini's videos where he uses his pocket rule and became intrigued. I then found out it was a one-time tool and no longer available until I recently got an email from ToolNut and Woodcraft that WoodPecker is creating another one-time tool run for the Paolini Pocket Rule. Anyone use one and is it worth the extra bucks? As of now I have a 6" stainless rule and a 6" combination square on my apron. The combo square is mainly used for marking. Is this a good replacement for both? Is it Accurate? Thanks!

All I can say is since I got mine (6" model a few years ago) it is my most- used measuring tool next to my tape measure. I found it accurate and easy to use. The included stop is handy to use for both as a stop as well as a stand to hold the ruler vertical for measuring blade or router bit height. Well designed tool in my book.

In "erock"'s videoes, he is using a similar one. But it looks like a sliding ruler in a plastic housing that can be locked. Anyone know what brand that one is?
I would like to get one but have not found it so far. Seems nice that it is in a plastic "case" when not in use although a steel ruler should be able to live in a front pocket...

A couple of differences I noticed compared to the previous model:
It's now 1/16" thick instead of 1/8". Not saying it matters, but Woodpeckers promoted its thickness as a benefit on the last model.
It also used to be combination imperial and metric. Now it appears you have to buy one or the other (or both).

I noticed that immediately and was disappointed because the first model looked more robust as well as the combo of imperial and metric measurement BUT, I ordered one anyway due to the positive feedback. Guess I'll look into the Kreg model as well. Thanks all for the feedback.promark747 said:

I really like using the older version I have for setting router bit heights in the CMS. Might just get a different length of the stainless model.

I hope you do not mind me telling you about the device that I have found to be the most amazing measurement device which I bought about a year ago...
It is the Incra Precision T Rule. I have the metric version which can go down to a quarter of a mm. Simply brilliant. What I have found particularly good is that it has made my Domino setting out so much easier.
I have not tried, indeed not even heard of the Paolini Rule until today and so I cannot say that the Incra is any better or any worse.

I have a combo 8" aluminum Paolini pocket rule that is both metric and imperial. I prefer to use it with my Czech Edge ruler stop. Czeck Edge Ruler Stop
However, I would rather have a 300mm Saddle T Square than a stainless Paolini rule. Wish they would re-run these.
