Everyone has seen it in the news this past week but this latest disaster hit our family personally, my niece lives (lived?) there. They all evacuated safely but confirmed today that they lost both her home and her husband's mother's home.
Beyond the loss of personal property it struck me how this disaster is so debilitating, she described losing her daughter's school, dance class, doctor's office, veterinarian, friend's homes and on down the line. Our home was damaged in Sandy but we had a community to return to and rebuild, I don't see that happening in Paradise. I cannot get my mind around the emotional impact of losing everything material connected to your daily existence.
Thoughts and prayers to anyone impacted by these events.
