Really glad to have an opportunity to buy Festool items in Germany for the time we are stationed here.
Latest purchases include some items that are available in the USA, but were on sale in the store. Each of the Sortainers below cost me just over $100. The mini's were about $20, and the top systainer with inserts was around $70.  The rest of the EU only items (NAINA) were at normal prices but without VAT added due to my affiliation to the US military through my wife.

Happy Camper, and more to follow in the next day or two, including a LOT of Logo items, and the full Vacu-Clamping system with accessories.

NAINA items purchased - Centrotec Installer Kit (Original) - 10 Router Bit Set - Centrotec Ratchet and Socket Set - Short Stabila level.

48" Festool Lighted Level by Stabila. (Also found out that the straight edge bottom is accurate to .0074" per meter. Good enough to not have to buy Starrett for me)

Picking up toolies, pocket knives, more clocks, and blade bags today!

I'm amazed we're not seeing CMS inserts int the mix. I realise you've got the sawstop ... but hey, you are collecting after all [wink]

Seriously though, get the jigsaw CMS insert!!

As best I can figure, the CMS Jigsaw unit doesn't do much more than turn the 420 into a scroll saw. Am I wrong? (I already have a DeWalt 788 Scroll Saw that I love)

Got confirmation that my German dealer has been able to order me a PSC420 with a 110V battery charger directly from Festool Germany. In tomorrow!!  Woohoo!

One cant really call it a scroll saw nor a bandsaw replacement, but it does. Enable better control in cuts that you would normally do with the jigsaw upside down under the material while supporting the piece with your other hand since you can have both hands guiding the material and the table doing the supporting.

You can't do tilted cuts with a carvex in the cms unit due to the base used for connection (guiderail base), but an old trion in it should be able to do that too.

Also you need to detach the base from the CMS module when you need to change the zero clearance insert and you need at a minimum releasenthe saw from its base to change a blade.

Also the battery model of carvex is not compatible with the cms module (see my review of it with my carvex 400 here on fog).

Most of my gripes in the review are related to the now well documented faults of the PSC400 and using a battery model in the CMS-PS.

It works mostly well with a PS420 corded that I now have. Still thinking about finding an old trion to permanently attach to mine anyway.

Did you enquire about 110v pigtails?

Yup, and the blank, thousand-yard stare I got from the Festool guys in the store pretty much summed up what the answer would be..... [big grin]

Don't think I'll be finding those in Germany...but you never know.

Posting pics later of my latest acquisitions. I now have 11 clocks, 10 Toolies, 8 Blade Bags (Festool says done... no more left), and one final remaining Festool Swiss knife. I'll be keeping that one because Festool HQ says there are no more.  Don't know if I should get more pencils, box cutters, and folding measuring sticks. They are available here. Bringing all back to the USA in September when I finish my next Nigerian work tour, and deciding how to distribute them. (Probably here, SMC, and possibly eBay).

Couple of other items I saw in the store: Bessey folding measuring stick like Festool's. Don't know if that's rare or not. Also very inexpensive, but very well made German manufactured wood scrapers. They're a bit stiffer than most I've seen in the USA, but very nice. About $3.50 each at my cost.

Deciding whether to invest in some additional 10-Bit Router sets to bring back to the U.S. as well. Have one for myself, but I know there is a demand in the States.

Would be interested in hearing of any other German made tools or items that are not available in the States. I've got really decent sourcing here.

You're right, but it can be very convenient not needing to remove the blade to get inside a piece and it's a lot more aggressive than a scroll saw IMO. I realise you're planning a couple of bandsaws too. I've dedicated a CARVEX to the module (mains model) with my cordless CARVEX being my main freehand jigsaw.

I would seriously buy a ratchet set, toolie, and clock from you. Oh... and a TS75 CMS insert, if possible [embarassed]  Just tell me were to send the money. I am also wanting some pigtails, but I requested that on your other topic.

Thanks,

Daniel

[big grin]

I'd be interested in a ts75 insert and a router bit set as well. And a blade bag if you end up with any spares...

"the blank, thousand-yard stare" is because the pigtails have no voltage associated with them. All you need is the thicker gage wire. And I'm sure you can get them easly in Germany. All you need is the part number.

OK... so does anyone know the part number?  My store has been ordering stuff for me on the phone with Festool, but they need the part number to understand what I want.

I have to go and pick up the last piece of my Vacu-Clamp system, and a PSC420 with 110V charger from the dealer tomorrow. I'll get them to call about availability of the pigtails. I am assuming the people asking are wanting the 110V version, yes?  Let me know as soon as this is read.

Also, it appears there is a real interest in the small levels, ratchet sets, and the router bit sets amongst our brethren here. I'll have a discussion with my dealer here tomorrow about a small volume purchase of those items and potentially bring those with me as well in September when I sit in my Florida house for a few weeks during the peak of Hurricane season. Obviously, I intend to make a small token for my efforts, but rest assured, it is gonna go right back into "green" purchases! [eek]

Cheers

What size container did you plan to ship to the USA, 20' or 40'?

Best, Karel

LOL!  Starting to think I'm going to need more than ONE container!  I'll be traveling light on personal gear. I can carry two 70 lbs bags via military space-available flights to Baltimore, and then two 70 lbs bags to my home in Florida because I'm Platinum status on Delta.  Should be no issue.
I'm also sending some Priority Mail via the military postal system to my house. (The equivalent of originating in Philadelphia, not Germany)

I would consider a container if I thought I could unload 2000 toolies, 2000 clocks, 2000 levels, and more! [big grin]
