My shop/ business burned down last month and I now have the opportunity to start fresh. I purchased my first festools this past weekend and I am very impressed. I also bought a makita 10 inch slider, now I know that saw is just fine but I am trying to justify going with as much festool as I can so I would like to include the kapex. Is there anyone out there that could give me some reasons why I need the kapex over the makita?
I am new to FOG so I hope this is not a topic that has been played out!

hi and welcome to the fog! [welcome]

first of all, i am makita biggest fan.

i love the 10inch LS1013 makita sliding compound mitre saws.
i have been using these models for 15 years and still love them.

i purchased the kapex 120 about 2 years ago and i use it solely for finish work.
it is the best saw on the market.
at the end of the day, only you can make the choice.

but i would not hesitate to recommend this saw for a workshop or for onsite finish work.

I agree with Justin. I have three Makita compound mitre drop saws LS1016 & I love them. the only problem is their exhaust system is bad & is messy ,saw dust everywhere
I use two on sight & one in workshop. cleaning up is so messy. I have thought about Kapex in workshop it would hook up to my festool vacuum system & not much cleaning after use.
I believe that the capex is a great saw. Bucko

Buy it,try it for 30 days and if you don't like it,return it.
That's really the best way to get the feel for it.

Accurate, quieter, less mess, great warranty and support, green.

How about the smaller Makita, the LS0714? Best DC in the business! Mine gets tossed around in my truck and is still dead on!

Not an expet on the Makita but have had a couple of others before I bought the Kapex. Very expensve but no doubt in my mind it is the best saw on the market for finishing type work. the dual lasers are mazing and I've never seen another saw that did bevels as easily and accurately. Dust collection is superior and it is very light (only makes a difference if you are going to move it around). You really have to ask yourself what kind of use it will get and if the Kapex is worth the premium you will pay over other saws. .
