plug it cord not compatible with all tools

I use the boom arm attached to my CT.  I have about 1m 50mm hose then the 3m 27mm hose which works great.  I intend to pickup a 36mm hose with one of the cleaning sets soon, as the planer takes a larger hose,  and I understand it just works better with many of the tools.
why isn't there a hose with an electrical cord molded within it?  -the vast majority of Festool users use a CT along with their tools, right?  so...  why not have an antistatic hose that has a 16ga plugit built right into it?

By the way,  anyone else using the boom notice that the cords are too short to run up the hose, through the hooks in the boom, and down to the dust collector electric outlet?  I made a short extension cord that stays with my CT,  but honestly, it makes it kinda look like an engineering oversight... 

Is there a longer Plug-it cord available?  if not, I need to find some black cord and plug ends so it doesn't look so obvious  [embarassed]
 
I might be mistaken, but I remember reading somewhere that there are hoses with built in cords, just not in the US.  UL wouldn't allow the electrical to be put in such close proximity to fine dust that would be found in the hose.  

A solution you might like is an expandable cord wrap type product such as techflex.  http://www.techflex.com/  It does a nice job of keeping everything neat while remaining flexible.  

When i got my boom arm it came with a short length of 50mm hose and a heavy gauge electrical extension of about the same length.  Did you not get the extension cord?  It is sized so the hose and plugit cord end at approximately the same length.

I've wondered this since I've known about festool.
Additionally, I thought it would be nice if there was a push button at the end (perhaps that lights up a light). To be able to start/stop remotely (ie when cleaning...not when using a power tool attached derrr)

I like the techflex idea, anyone have any pics of it in action?

Does it coil just as easily into the garage hose? and what size?
 
I have used techflex many times while installing server rooms.  It works well at bundling main trunks of wires.  I have not yet installed it on my boom arm as I only have a couple cords (I am new to festool and only have a few tools so far) and I do not want to semi-permanently affix my cords to the vacuum.  

It is very flexible so I see no problems when it comes to coiling in the hose garage.  Also, since the cord and hose can move semi independently within the wrap there should be no issues with kinking or twisting when coiling the hose.  

I like the clean cut version (http://www.techflex.com/prod_CCP.asp) as it is simple to size and not worry about fraying, it is a little more expensive but well worth the money.  As far as size I would recommend the 1.5 inch nominal size as it will go from 1.25 to 2 inches which should be a perfect range for use, along with a cord, with both the 27 and 35mm hoses.  The 1.25 inch nominal should work also (at least for the 27mm hose), but I personally prefer having some extra flexibility.
