Plunge Lock on OF1010 Router - Easy fix!

Hello all,

I have until recently been struggling with the plunge lock on my 1010 router.  Problem was that a lot of force was required on the plunge lock knob in order to ensure that it did not slip during operation,  this did not seem right to me.  I searched this forum and did not find a solution.  So one night after disassembling and checking out how the plunge lock actually works,  I decided just to try putting a few drops of pneumatic oil onto the threads of the plunge knob.  Voila, problem solved!  Must be that the oil makes the thread more efficient, thus increasing the axial force from the plunge lock onto the bush.  Anyway - works perfectly now, so hope this trick helps someone else as well.

Cheers

I think any light machine oil would work or TriFlow or similar.

A general tip ......  If it is in a spraycan, give a squirt on something else first so that you can just let a couple drops fall off the tube onto the threads. That will avoid getting the oil on router parts that you don't want it on.

EDIT>  And I have just now discovered that Triflow is available in other types of applicator bottles.  [thumbs up] Been a long time since I bought any. A non-spray form will be good to have.
