Poblems with Searching within FOG Gallery

I am getting strange results when I use the "Search" function within the Gallery.  My PC is a Dell Inspiron E1505 running VISTA Home Premium OS and IE with all current MS updates and protective software from PC Tools.

If I enter "cut" in the Gallery search box using its default checkbox settings, the search results display 6 thumbnail images, 3 of which are my cut lists which have "cut" in their titles and key words, the other 3 of which are parts and price lists posted by Forrest Anderson.  But no matter what I thumbnail image I click on within the search results list, the very same one of Forrest's yellow highlighted lists is always the first image displayed.  If I click on the < > arrows I can cause the rest of the images in the results list to display.

If I enter "stop" in the Gallery search box using its default checkbox settings, the search results contain many  thumbnail images as expected.  But when I click on one of them, I again get the same yellow highlighted list image posted by Forrest.

If I enter "guide" in the Gallery search box and ask the search engine to look only in the titles, the search results contain many  thumbnail images as expected.  But the same yellow highlighted list image posted by Forrest is still what pops up when I click on any image in the "hits" collection of thumbnail images.

The Gallery appears to be working nromally when I open anyone's group of thumbnail images and if I click on any thumbnail to open an enlarged image.

Strange results indeed!

If I enter "cut" in the Gallery search box using its default checkbox settings, the search results display 6 thumbnail images...

If I enter "cut" without the quote marks and without a space at either end of the word, and accept the default settings (which in my case are Title, Caption and Keyword ticked; owner name, filename, "newer than", and "older than" left blank; and "Match All Words" selected), then I get 95 results (the total number of results is shown at the bottom left of the results page.

What does it say at the top left and bottom left of your results page for this search? In my case it is:

      Search results - "cut"
      95 files on 1 page(s)

3 of which are my cut lists which have "cut" in their titles and key words, the other 3 of which are parts and price lists posted by Forrest Anderson.  But no matter what I thumbnail image I click on within the search results list, the very same one of Forrest's yellow highlighted lists is always the first image displayed.  If I click on the < > arrows I can cause the rest of the images in the results list to display.

What are the filenames of my parts and price lists that come up? When I do the same search, no such lists are presented in the 95 results, but when I go into my album I see the following two yellow highlighted ones which seem to fit your description:

KapexExtensionparts.jpg
Kapex Extension Parts List

BasisExtensionParts.jpg
BASIS Extension Parts List

If I enter "stop" in the Gallery search box using its default checkbox settings, the search results contain many  thumbnail images as expected.  But when I click on one of them, I again get the same yellow highlighted list image posted by Forrest.

If I do a search for the word stop, with the default settings listed above, I get:

Search results - "stop" at the top left
26 files on 1 page(s) at the bottom left

Again, there are no yellow highlighted lists! What do you get in these two corners of the results screen?

If I enter "guide" in the Gallery search box and ask the search engine to look only in the titles, the search results contain many  thumbnail images as expected.  But the same yellow highlighted list image posted by Forrest is still what pops up when I click on any image in the "hits" collection of thumbnail images.

If I do a search for the word "guide", with the default settings listed above, I get:

Search results - "guide" at the top left
60 files on 1 page(s) at the bottom left

Once again, there are no yellow highlighted lists among the results. What do you get in these two corners of the results screen?

You certainly appear to be getting very peculiar results and I apologise for my ever-present highlighted lists!

Forrest

Good Afternoon,
I can't replicate these problem results either.  When I do a search on the words Dave mentions, my results are the same as Forrest's.

My guess is, there's something going on with Dave's computer.  Possibly, it's a cache issue.

What browser are you using?  Can you tell us more about the settings you see on the screen when you do the search?

Dues anyone else experience the same weird results?  Let's see if we can figure this out.

Matthew

I couldn't duplicate it either. I am running an almost brand new Dell Inspiron 530 With Vista home premium, and IE, with current updates as well. I got the same results as Forrest.

Thanks, Gents, for checking out the problem I was experiencing.  I guess the digital demons have been playing in my equipment.  All appears well with my setup currently, including functioning of the Gallery.  I depowered everything, left it off for several minutes, then started up the power strip with the printer (HP 6310) transformer disconnected, and the Zyzel DSL modem (supplied by my ISP Earthlink) depowered.  I first restarted my Linksys wireless router, then the DSL modem, then the PC, then the printer.  The printer would not work properly for the entire last month, even when everything else was turned and no matter how many de-power, re-power and resetting operations I had tried, nor could HP's or Fixya's technical people solve the printer's problems.  Now everything appears to be working correctly, although Earthlink's technical support personnel have stated that I have the wrong DNS numbers entered.  Those numbers were given me by another Earthlink technician back in February 2008 and worked well until my recent problems.  I know they are critical to any of my PCs getting onto the internet.  Those February numbers are still working now, or this message could not be posted.  I wrote down the currently recommended DNS numbers so I can manually enter these later if my problems recur.  Go figure, if you can.  I do not have any training in how digital devices should be setup, but slowly I am learning!!

I suspect I am still having intermittent ISP problems, though.  I had to abort and re-establish my link to FOG before I could complete this reply.
