We are replacing our patio shade roof I built many years ago with a pergola.  I used the big box store for the post anchor plates for the old roof that had 4x4 posts. For the new pergola I'm using 6x6 corner posts and wondering if there are "better" type anchors available today. This will sit on our concrete patio.

Thanks
Mike

I have no assistance/recommendations for you, but I have a pergola project planned myself and still struggle for inspiration, so if you end up documenting the build, I'd definitely be interested to see it!

LOL, another +1 here following along for the same upcoming project.

I was doing some research earlier and City of San Diego DBI actually has a pretty helpful document with some illustrations for what they'd like to see.  Obviously your AHJ is last word.

Oh and for the question you actually asked, I'm planning on using Simpson ABU or PBS post bases with 1" standoff and uplift resistance.  But I haven't finalized design or submitted plans yet.

I'm going to try to duplicate what I saw in this video "One Man Builds a PERGOLA in TWO DAYS on a Concrete Patio".
