Power fading whilst TS55 connected to Mini Extractor

I was trying to rip some 2x4 on my CMS table with a TS55 mounted under it. The TS55 was connected to a FESTOOL Mini Vac, upon starting up the TS55 it was as if it was having a loss of power and took quite a few sec's to power up and get to spped (TS55 set to 6). This was whilst i was not feeding any material through it.

The mini vac bag was not full.

If I ran the TS55 & Mini vac through sep. power supplies it seemed to be fine - sort of like the mini-vac was having a problem ?

All in the UK, all running 110V with a FESTOOL rip blade in it...

The TS55 is nearly 3 years old.

Thoughts?

Thanks Paul...

Did you find any hot spots in the chain while running through the mini ?
If some power is wasted, there's certainly something that gets hot in response (and might smoke in the end).
I would check cables, plugs, vac case around the vac plug, etc.
Be careful anyway.

I think Enrico is on to something...

Make sure that the plug-it cord connection to the saw is ALWAYS properly seated. If the bayonet-type connection isn't turned clockwise until it is seated solidly, it can cause resistance, which can cause loss of voltage and eventually, connector degradation or failure.

I've seen this happen to someone who is pretty careful about tools but who has loaned them to others. I have also seen a comment on this forum about plug-it cords getting loose or falling out. That doesn't happen if you twist them in properly.

Sounds to me that the transformer is not capable of coping with the power load (under rated), or the leads are too long.

Hope that helps

Right.... I figured it...

I replaced the power cable from my 110 box to the Vac... The one I was using had a few splits in it - oops... How odd though ...
