I just bought a new T-15+3. I am having problems with the drill chuck going on and off. Have to really push it on and it snaps in place. Then when I went to take it off it would not come off, so i took a small screw driver and was able to pry it off. So I tryed all the other chucks and thew all work fine, would love some help on this. Has any one else had this prob? The drill works really good except for this one prob. PLEASE HELP.

Can't say I have. You have a warranty with the drill, so at the worst, you take it back and the dealer exchanges the offending chuck.

I recommend you call the service phone number printed on the tag on the drill. They are excellent at handling issues. I doubt this is fixable yourself but could be wrong. When Shane sees this post he will probably tell you something similar. Being a weekend, I don't know if the support line is staffed. Festool WILL take care of you.

Sorry to hear about your problem with the chuck. If it's convenient, I would recommend going back to your dealer and exchanging it with another drill. Call ahead to make sure they have another one in stock. If that's not convenient, please send me your contact information with the best time to call and I'll coordinate someone from our service department getting in touch with you and making arrangements to get you a replacement. Alternatively, you can call the service department directly, their number is below in my signature.

PS - You'll get an automated response that I'm out of the office but I'll still take care of this for you.

Thanks,
Shane

I have the same problem with my drill chuck I just give it a tap against the wall or floor or something and it comes off. Some reason you bull the release ring and try and remove it just won't come off a simple light tap against something and then try and remove it always does it for me the centrotec has started to do it aswell now so kinda annoying.

the same thing is wrong with my ccd12 chuck. if i tighten it up to the last it will come off. still a PITA

Spray both parts with a drylube or drycote dry lubricant type spray.  I think the last time I bought a can it was from Home Depot.

I dipped mine in some old tranny fluid and oil concoction I have going on in a bucket at home.

They fit tight.

I just thought that for 575 dollars you would not have prob with extra parts fitting right.I love festools, just hope this does not turn into a problem. I own the kapex, the small router, the of 2200, ct33 vac, one of the jig saws, the domino, the big circular saw,the mft table,90 sander, and 3 other sanders, no problems with any of them, all good tools. all top of the line. also the miter saw, wow what a nice saw. The place I bought the drill from is sending me a box and shipping labels to send the drill back, hope they make it right with me.I should have tried all the parts out before I took the tool home with me, I will know better next time....

I bet the next one will fit just as tight.

Would you rather have it so sloppy it falls off then?

I have to give my T15 chuck a little force to get it off also, but it doesn't feel bad/broke just a nice snug fit.

Skinard, you list 12 Festools that you own, and if this is the first problem you had that is fantastic..... just imagine if they were all ridgid/dewalt ect.

Plus 1 on that comment. While I don't suffer his frustration with my T15 +3. I'd say adding a dab of wax or Teflon dry lube to the chuck that's giving him grief, or just exchange parts like he's doing. [unsure]

I should not have to pry it off. It is so tight I cant get it off by hand. But I still dont want it to loose.I saw a video of a guy using one and his went right on and off.

I agree with you, I don't have to do anything like this with mine. Wasn't making fun of your situation, just thinking out loud if I ever ended up needing to try something with my T15 short of having to return it like you're now doing. Let us know how it works out.

Just waiting for the co. I bought it from to send me a box to send it to festool for repair. I just cant see messing with it, it should work. 575 dollars is a lot of money for a drill. I should not have to do anything to it, should work right.

just receved the box from the co i bought it from, they want me to send it to them, then festool will send me a new one.

Well just found out that festool knows that there is a problem with the t15. so they dont even make them any more. They dont even have them in stock any more. The problem was with the drill, not the chuck it self. The one I had must of been the older model, I think they have a newer model that is ok. Anyway I got my money back. To bad I sure liked the way it felt in my hand. I will have to wait for the new t18 to come out this summer. I am sure it will be more money, but if it works good it will be worth it.I guess some of the t15 drills were good and some not. If  anyone has more info on this I would love to here it. Or any info on the new t18, like when it will be out.

I'm not sure where you got this information, but it's not accurate. We don't have any known or widespread problems with the T15. We are transitioning to a newer version of the T-series drills which will have new features like an integrated LED, belt clip and battery fuel gauge. That's the reason that we're out of stock. We can't get the new models from Germany yet. There are no changes to the drill beyond that.
