So I picked up the 65E some time ago for a project I was planning on starting. That project was delayed and it has been sitting. But last night I had the perfect opportunity to use it on another project. I needed to trim the bottom 2 inches off of a shop cabinet in order for it to fit. I connected the planer to my CT 36, attached the hose and away I went. My first cut was set at 2.5mm, which was the Festool recommended max although it can cut up to 4mm. It felt as if the planer needed to come up to speed. So as the motor increased rpm and noise (at no point was it loud) I started to plane. The blade seemed to hit the workpiece and stop. Tried this a few times with pretty much the same results. I lowered the depth of cut to .5mm with the same results. I then disconnected the planer from the CT 36 and connected it directly to an outlet. Maybe you can't connect the planer to the vac as it draws too much power? This was better, but not what I would have expected. I was now able to get a few cuts done, one was really good, but I can't imagine the tool works this way. So in summary:
1. Waiting for the motor to spin up seems odd.
2. Often times when it hits the workpiece the cutter just stops and really wont restart until I let go of the power switch
3. At no point did I feel that this machine had any significant power
4. Can it be connected to a vac?
5. I only had 1 or 2 good cuts, or at least what my minimal expectation of this tool would be
6. I really don't feel that I pushed this tool at all taking a 0.5mm cut over half the length of the blade
Any tips or recommendations are welcome. Thanks
