Hi,

I've been using the TS55 with MTF for about 6 months now and I must say that it's met most of my needs.  The only thing that's been a bit of a challenge is cutting those really small pieces.  The other day I saw this neat little Proxxon table saw at Woodcraft (and I mean little!).  So I'm thinking that this could solve my cutting really small pieces problem.  I asked the sales guy at Woodcraft about the saw and he said that it's actually tougher than it looks.

So I could just pull this table saw out onto my MTF just like any other Festool and cut away.

What do you think?  Has anyone tried one of these?

Thanks,
Martin.

Proxxon make lots of 'miniature' tools, mainly for modelmakers/architects etc.

They are great quality - the Festool of the model making world (and priced accordingly!).

Go to "Micromot power tools" and then select "micromot bench top units" from the drop-down.

PS - The micro planer is sooooo cute!!!

Martin,

Before you go out and order the Proxxon, take a look at this one..... http://www.byrnesmodelmachines.com/tablesaw.html

Read the review link he provides. I have a full wood-shop I have this one as an accessory and you wouldn't believe what I've been able to do with it.

gotta run,

till later.......

Roger

I've been eyeing the Proxxon (or MicroMark version) for a while.

I have an old Dremel 4" table saw, and can see the utility of these tools for small piece work.  I rarely use the Dremel because it's not what you'd call a precision machine.

So now I'm thinking about a better 4" saw, or maybe make more progress on using a Jointech (Incra type) fence on the MFT3 with the TS55 to control precision cuts.  More on that later

Hi Roger,

Thanks for pointing out the Byrnes table saw.  That looks like a nice little unit as well.
Now I'm going to have to do a comparison.  I didn't realize that there was a whole bunch of mini machines like this for modelers.  I should find a modeling Website and find out what the Gold Standard is in that world.

Martin.

I have had the Proxxon FKS/E for a little over a year and I like it a lot. The precision is excellent. Today I was looking for a taller rip fence for it and ran across the MicroLux version. Looks like the same saw. Therefore the accessories should work with my Proxxon, yes?

OMG that's amazing!  Never knew these existed.  If I was seven years old again Santa would be getting one hell of a list to fulfill  [laughing]    Can't believe the prices either....just like buying regular size tools...

A word of warning regarding the proxxon tools. They vary massively in quality.

I have the chop saw which is excellent. Recommended.

To describe the router, however, would require the use of language banned on this forum.

I would definitely recommend the Byrnes machines. All the owners on the model-making forums speak very highly of them.
