Hey all,

Im getting more and more into tools im improving my collection with buying and selling used powertools on the 2nd hand market.

I am able to buy a PSC 400 EB-Plus Festool Jigsaw in mint condition with the additional sole for cutting at angles, everything complete and looking pretty nice.

Would this be a good buy for about 350 dollars? Or would i be better off buying a 420 with some additional funds?

I can find tons and tons of info about the 420 on the internet but not so much about the 400... Whats the big difference between them? They look pretty much the same..

THank you for your help! Its a big investment for me, so I do not want to regret my buy.

I would stay away from the PSC 400. It was discontinued shortly after is introduction.
It had problems with the blade wandering and not cutting square.
In Europe all the owners with troubles had the possibility to trade it for the 420 model (for free).

The main/only difference is that the PS 400 had no blade guide.
While on the PS 420 the blade guide is back and looks much like the one on the PS 300.
It now cuts better but in my opinion not up to the Festool standards.

Thank you for your words of wisdom. I had a suspision that there would be a catch somewhere... cause the asking price was pretty low. I see that i can get a corded 420 for the same price as the nocord 400. I'll go for the 420, thanks loads.
